Still in the patriotic mood. 🇲🇾 What do you get when a group of energetic Malaysians come together? This week has been an eventful week but one of the highlights was certainly being able to attend a Malaysian organised round table luncheon networking meeting. I was happy to be invited to this luncheon organised by the @malaysianbusinesscouncil_uae which also coincided with the Malaysia Day as well as Malaysia’s Armed Forces Day. The lunch spread was of course prepared by a Malaysian that being the famous Chef Rene who served us delicious Malaysian delicacies such as Nasi Ayam, Mee Goreng Mamak, Pengat Pisang, Kueh Ketayap and even Air Bandung. Sorry! Didn’t take any pictures cause I was too busy enjoying the wonderful food and the great company. It was good to meet many fellow Malaysians as well as non Malaysians attendees from all walks of life doing all sorts of interesting businesses and ventures right here in the UAE. 🇭🇰 Root Vegan is the newest eatery to open on Central's Wellington Street with a focus on meatless delicacies. We came for lunch to taste its popular Thai red curry which was a flavorful bowl of light broth met with a potpourri of vegetables including baby broccoli, cabbage and tomatoes and a smooth jelly noodle; topped with refreshing coconut milk. Meanwhile, the dan dan noodle - a Sichuan favorite, was also delicious; deploying diced omni pork and thick slabs of tofu steak and accompanied by vegetarian dumplings. This was all complimented by sides including the sesame spinach and spicy eggplant that were simpler supporting acts. Housed in an upstairs space with ample of natural light and balcony space, Root Vegan is a refreshing den of meatless recipes; offered in generous portions and delicious flavors that span its roots across various cuisines.
