    面冒青筋病痛多?
    中醫理論認為面色反映臟腑的健康狀況,除了面色,有些人面上會浮現青筋,例如嬰兒常見鼻樑冒青筋,老人家有「青筋攀鼻樑,無事喊三場」的說法,是否真有其事?所謂青筋其實是靜脈血管,作用是把血液從身體各部分送回心臟,如果血液回流受阻就容易令青筋浮現,從中醫角度來看屬氣滯血瘀,氣血運行不暢而形成血瘀栓塞,而氣血虛弱的人不夠力推動血氣,亦比較容易出現冒青筋的情況。治理方法以活血化瘀為主,再按個別體質進行調理。
    中醫理論認為小孩「脾常不足」,意指小孩的脾胃功能並未發育健全,嬰孩常見鼻樑位置冒青筋,很大可能是脾胃積弱,腸胃容易不適,由於未懂說話所以用哭鬧方式來表達。家長宜替小孩增強體質,從改善脾胃功能著手,在飲食上多加留意,強化脾胃功能。

    What does having green facial veins mean?
    Chinese Medicine theories believe the condition of our face would reflect the health of our internal organs. Besides the complexion, some people may have green veins on their faces.

    For instance, a toddler might have green veins on his or her nose bridge, and according to urban legend, a toddler with this condition would tend to throw tantrums. Is it real?

    The green veins are vessels that transport blood from all body parts back to the heart. They become more apparent when the veins cannot perform their functions optimally. From the perspective of Chinese Medicine, this has to do with the stagnation of the qi and blood stasis, which can disrupt the circulation of the qi and the blood.

    Individuals with weak qi and blood do not have sufficient energy to support the circulation, and that is how green veins appear on the surface of the skin. The best way to treat this problem is to invigorate the blood and clear blood stasis according to the body constitution.

    Chinese Medicine believes that children’s spleen and stomach have yet to fully develop, and the green veins that appear on the nose bridge is associated with the weakness of these two internal organs. This also means they are prone to experience discomfort in the intestines and stomach.

    Since the children have not developed the ability to talk, the only way for them to express themselves is through excessive wailing. Parents should try to improve the functions of their children’s spleen and stomach by observing their diet, as proper diets could strengthen a person’s body constitution.

    What’s the relationship between a yellowish complexion and liver?
    People often tell us having a yellowish complexion is an indication of liver problems. If the liver does not function properly, the white of the eyes will also turn yellow. Hence, according to Chinese Medicine theories, having a yellowish complexion has to do with the weakness of qi in the spleen and stomach or the dampness that stagnates in a weak spleen.

    Individuals with a weak spleen may have yellowish complexion, loose muscles, mushy stools, do not have a good appetite, and experience fatigue, bloating, and edema. The condition may also cause stunted growth in children.

    To improve this condition, we have to take good care of our spleen by drinking rice water and consuming ingredients such as rice, millet, Chinese yam, hyacinth bean, poria, corn, oats, and potatoes. Eat at regular hours and avoid raw, cold, and sweet foods. Gently massage the San Li acupoint with the thumb for 2-3 minutes on a regular basis to strengthen the spleen.

    Zu San Li Acupoint
    Effects: strengthens the spleen and stomach, clears heat and dispels dampness
    Location: on the anterior aspect of the lower leg, four-finger breadth below knee cap.

    材料:

    1. 生、熟薏米,清水浸30分鐘。
    2. 紅豆,清水浸,最好浸1晚,但亦不少於6小時。
    3. 生、熟薏米,及紅豆,清水沖洗乾淨。

    程序:
    1. 所有材料,放入養生壺。
    2. 加入清水1.2升。
    3. 用“黑茶”功能,煲1小時。
    4. 完成,可享用。

    如果用明火煲:
    1. 在煲內加入清水1升半。
    2. 大火煲滾後,轉中慢火煲30分鐘,熄火,焗30分鐘,就可以飲用了。

    Coix seed and adzuki bean soup

    Ingredients:
    Adzuki beans 4 tbsp
    Raw coix seed 2 tbsp
    Cooked coix seed 2 tbsp

    Preparation:
    1. Raw and cooked coix seed, soak in tap water for 30 minutes.
    2. Adzuki beans, soak in tap water overnight but at least 6 hours.
    3. Raw and cooked coix seed and Adzuki beans, rinse thoroughly.

    Steps:
    1. Put everything in health pot.
    2. Add water 1.2L.
    3. Use "dark tea" function, boil for 1 hour.
    4. Complete. Serve.

    If a gas cooker is to be used:
    1. Put water 1.5 L in pot.
    2. Turn to medium~low flame after boils up, boil for 30 minutes. Turn off fire. Leave it for 30 minutes. Serve.

    材料:
    響螺2隻
    瘦肉12兩
    鮮淮山1條
    沙参1兩

    薑幾片

    處理:
    1. 沙参切小段,與玉竹,用碟蓋住浸凍水1小時或浸暖水15分鐘。
    2. 果皮、杞子及蜜棗,清水浸。
    3. 響螺,去殼,切開中間,除去紅色及黑色部分,刮走內贓,清水沖洗乾淨,放入煲。
    4. 瘦肉,清洗乾淨,放入煲。
    5. 杞子、果皮及蜜棗,清洗乾淨,放入煲。
    6. 紅蘿蔔,去皮。
    7. 薑,去皮。
    8. 淮山,沖一沖水,輕手刨皮。
    9. 洗乾淨砧板,淮山,斜刀切細舊,放入煲。
    10. 薑,切幾片,放入煲。
    11. 紅蘿蔔,切細舊,放入煲。
    12. 沙参、玉竹已浸透,擎乾水,清水沖洗乾淨,放入煲。

    烹調:
    1. 用高壓煲:
    a. 加入水4升,煲40分鐘,焗1小時。
    b. 加入杞子,用“再加熱”功能,煲15分鐘,就可以了。
    c. 完成,可享用。
    2. 用明火煲湯:
    a. 加入水5升,大火煲滾後,轉中慢火,煲90分鐘,焗1小時。
    b. 大火翻熱湯,加入杞子,轉中火煲15分鐘,就可以了。

    Sea conch 2 Nos.

    Ginger few slices

    Preparation:

    3. Sea conch, remove shell, cut in the middle of it, remove the areas in red and black, as well as the intestines. Rinse thoroughly. Put into pot.
    4. Pork meat, rinse thoroughly then put into pot.
    5. Wolfberries, dried orange peel and candied dates, rinse then put into pot.
    6. Carrot, get it peeled.
    7. Ginger, get it peeled.
    8. Fresh yam, rinse and peel lightly.
    9. Rinse the chopping board, cut the fresh yam in short lengths slantly. Put into pot.
    10. Ginger, cut several slices, put into pot.
    11. Carrot, cut into small pieces, put into pot.
    12. Adenophora and polygonatum have been soaked well. Hang dry. Rinse thoroughly. Put into pot.

    Steps:
    1. By pressure cooker:
    a. Put water 4L, cook for 40 minutes, leave it for an hour.
    b. Add wolfberries, reheat the soup for 15 minutes.
    c. Complete. Serve.
    2. By gas cooker:
    a. Put water 5L, heat up the soup at high flame. Turn to medium~low flame after boils up, cook for 90 minutes, leave it for an hour.
    b. Reheat the soup at high flame, add wolfberries. Turn to medium~low flame, cook the soup for 15 minutes.
    c. Complete. Serve.

    八寶素湯:

    材料:
    蓮藕半斤
    紅蘿蔔1個
    栗子半磅(已剝殼)
    核桃2兩 (已剝殼)
    蓮子1兩
    眉豆1兩
    花生1兩
    陳皮1角

    處理:
    1. 蓮子、眉豆、花生、陳皮、栗子、核桃(如為痛風症人士,可用薑1大片及紅棗6粒代替眉豆及花生),清水浸15分鐘。
    2. 紅蘿蔔及蓮藕,洗乾淨,去皮,切細舊。
    3. 如果用明火煲,放3升水。用高壓煲,放2升水就夠了。
    4. 紅蘿蔔及蓮藕,放入煲。
    5. 栗子,洗淨,放入煲。
    6. 核桃,洗淨,放入煲。
    7. 蓮子,去皮,去芯,放入煲。
    8. 陳皮,洗淨,放入煲。
    9. 花生,洗淨,去皮,放入煲。
    10. 加水入高壓煲,用“明火煲湯”功能,煲40分鐘,就可以了。如用明火煲,大火煲滾10分鐘,轉中慢火再煲1小時就可以了。
    11. 湯已用高壓煲煲好,焗了1小時。

    2. Carrots and lotus root, rinse, peel and cut into small pieces.
    3. Soup boiling by fire, put water 3L. Soup boiling by pressure cooker, put water 2L is OK.
    4. Carrot and lotus root, put into pot.
    5. Chestnuts, rinse then put into pot.
    6. Walnuts, rinse and put into pot.
    7. Lotus seeds, peel and remove cores, put into pot.
    8. Dried orange peel, rinse, put into pot.
    9. Peanuts, rinse, remove skin, put into pot.
    10. Put water into pressure cooker, use "porridge/soup" function. Boil for 40 minutes is OK. If soup is to be boiled by fire, heat up the soup at high flame for 10 minutes, turn to medium~low flame, boil for an hour is OK.
    11. Soup has been boiled well. Leave it in pot for an hour.
    12. Complete. Serve.
