But I hope that we’d be able to tell ourselves that what’s been done can’t be changed, and more importantly, there is still time to manifest those wonders.” Growing up, or to put it in the other words, getting old, means we have to face new challenges almost every day. Some people like to document their novel experience through talking to people around them, some use their cameras to capture the moments, while some enjoy writing their feelings down through blogging and poetry. Angel, one of the sweetest girls I’ve met, is great at using her words to explain the world around her and to communicate love. She is also an adventurous young lady who embraces changes in life while holding onto things that she loves. It has rocked my world when I learned that Angel has self-published her first book “till she flies again” - well writing a book has been one of my dreams but I never really started working on it. This collection of prose and poetry by Angel is a very lovely read. You can feel her devotion to life and people around her. 今天，來跟大家講一個英語教學世界裏一個非常不可告人，但其實英文老師們大家各自心知肚明的一個天大的袐密，那就是--英文到底能不能透過學會一些規則（例如自然發音法）後，學習者就可隨心所欲的可以看字就讀出正確的音，聽音就可以拼寫。我相信大家都有聽過這個說法--「其實英美澳等國的小朋友並沒有學英文的音標...

今天，來跟大家講一個英語教學世界裏一個非常不可告人，但其實英文老師們大家各自心知肚明的一個天大的袐密，那就是--英文到底能不能透過學會一些規則（例如自然發音法）後，學習者就可隨心所欲的可以看字就讀出正確的音，聽音就可以拼寫。我相信大家都有聽過這個說法--「其實英美澳等國的小朋友並沒有學英文的音標，所以其實我們台灣人也不需要學音標」。這個說法的前半部是正確的，母語人士的小孩的確沒有學音標，但這件事，卻得出「所以我們台灣人也不需要學音標」這樣的結論。Why?? 學英文，真的不需要音標嗎？先來討論英美澳等國的孩子。他們出生以後，見到以英文為母語的爸爸媽媽，他的第一個語言當然就會是英語（這裏先不討論移民或混血家庭，因為上一段的謬論中，也並沒有考慮到移民或混血家庭這些變數）。他的家人、朋友，甚至以後學校的老師，全都是用唯一、單一的這個語言跟他溝通，那麼說真的，他當然不需要學音標，很快就會「講」那個語言了。很多（本省）台灣人其實也都忘了，我們也都是這樣學會國台語的。我從小跟阿公阿嬤說的語言就是閩南語。六歲上小學時，我的閩南語已經相當流利。當你每天只用一個語言的時候，你只需要「耳朵」跟「嘴巴」，不需要「眼睛」或「手」去書寫，就可以學會那個語言。若真要我說唯一的差別，那就是閩南語因為政治因素一直停留在方言階段（這部份歡迎大家討論，但我這個貼文並非政治文），閩南語的文字化也在近期才投入開發，閩南語目前在台灣並非書寫的語言。若要談論識字（率），台灣仍以繁體中文為主。而要學中文，我們從小學起，是需要學會拼音系統的（台灣的注音，大陸的拼音，都是拼音系統）。我們華人，能不能跟英美人一樣，不學拼音系統，直接認國字呢？那你不會讀的國字，又不會查字典，也不會看拼音或注音，那要怎麼學會讀法呢？歡迎大家討論。再回到英美澳等國的幼兒，很快地，他們也開始需要學會認寫英文字。但他們跳過學音標，立刻進入認字的階段。而這時，兒美老師們都知道的 "sight words"，就會出動了。因為英語中最常出現、最基本的單字，幾乎都沒有按照自然發音法所歸納出的邏輯，所以它們被做成了 sight words，透過大量閃示給孩子看，來達到教學與熟練的目的。舉例來說，are you OK 的 are，發音跟 share, bare, rare 裏的are不一樣；you 裏的 ou 的發音跟 house, mouse, could, would, ought 裏 ou 的發音都不一樣；leg的e，也跟me, she, he的e發音不一樣。a的發音（第二張圖片）更是有九個完全不同的發音。為何英文的發音會如此不規則，當然有它的歷史與發展史，短短貼文無法詳述，我更是花了一年在英國學英語教學法，也只碰觸到邊。若你真有興趣，可以來上我的 #里茲螞蟻IPA英式發音課程，其中會針對英語的（混血）發展史有諸多著墨。但在IG這裏，我們也只能提出... 英語發音如此雜亂的... 解決方法吧！在幼兒的世界，他們有很多時間可以遊戲，這些 sight words （或做成 flash cards）的中文名字有：常見字、視覺詞等等。它們被印出來，當成字卡，老師或父母親們，每天都這樣閃啊閃的給孩子們看，每天看，看到孩子像膝反射一樣，看到字就會讀，他們當然不需要學音標。而我們台灣人，有辦法這樣嗎？我們，生下來，便要學一個世界上排名相當前面的最難的語言之一，中文，光沒有外語的干擾下，台灣小孩要學習繁體中文到可以閱讀長文或使用中文得宜就已有難度，所需時間也比英文母語孩子久（台大史嘉琳教授也曾如此說過），要把幼年孩子寶貴的學習時間又再花給英語，更是題外話的讓許多現任台灣各級學校老師經常提出以下評語--「現在國中高中學生普遍中文閱讀能力不足，許多孩子更是看不懂考試題目」。若真的不學音標，我們也必須像英美澳等國的孩子一樣，花大量的時間，每天看，天天看那些英文的 sight words，看到會。孩子們學習力強，或許台灣小孩真有辦法同時把中文跟英文都用母語人士的方式學好，那，你我這些大人呢？我們是大人了，我們有工作，你甚至可能上有老母下有小孩，你一天能有多少時間花在學一個新的技能呢？你說想學好英文，希望外國人可以聽懂你想說的英文，但在不會音標的情況下，要怎樣很快速很有效率的學會一個單字的發音呢？你有多少機會跟時間，在跟外國人溝通時，可以去猜測一個英文字的發音，企圖嘗試溝通？Hmm... 對方好像聽不懂，那我們再換個發音講講看好了... 看是不是可以猜對呢？所以問題的答案到底是什麼呢？我沒有讀博士，或許這是一個很好的博士題目--「沒有學英文的音標，外國人是否也可以短時間學會英語」，但我想，我們沒有時間了。時間，是一個成年人擁有的，最寶貴的資產了。再多的金錢，都買不回被浪費的時間。．．．．．．．．．． #learnenglish #vocabulary #speakenglish #britishenglish #englishpronunciation #ielts #學英文 #英文單字 #英文筆記 #英文學習 #雅思 #英國留學 #生活英文 #英文教學 #英文口說 #英文發音 #英式英文 #英式發音 #背單字 #學英文的正確方法

奧斯卡展開小學生活一個月了。

看似日常的循環，適應的算是可以。托班主任的福，奧斯卡一樣的非常喜歡小學校園生活～

🔍數學對他來說「easy」、自己放學後數學可以「自己」完成，我只需要檢查抓漏，他寫錯的一題，是把答案寫在格子裡，人家題目就說寫ABCD了！！算粗心嗎？算～不過想稱讚他數學真的吸收得好棒，連我幫他報名奧數比賽題目之一中的3-5+8測試考題都答對（小一考負數運算是正常的嗎？還是我不正常？）

🔍中文家課一定擺到我下班後才「一起」寫，一樣寫得歪七扭八（我只要求比劃對）字醜算了～

🔍英文家課還可以，學Phonics的好處讓他自行閱讀有一定的幫助，閱讀文章答題他竟然可以用「猜」的，找「關鍵字」很好！但小一英文He,She,It,They ,We他分得出來is,am,are~英文家教錢沒白花（想當初我們國中才學得的，我兒子小一就會了！！）

總結，奧斯卡的學習大致是不錯的，大家小孩都有的症頭我家這隻也沒少，一開始「抄漏家課冊」、「書包底有張壓爛的工作紙」是正常。開學3周後也進步很多，我只要求抄對行，其他字抄醜我就不要求了～

🔍「默書」？還沒有！可能Happy School！？（不過學校有預告下個月會英默的單字）奧斯卡唸得學校是我非常喜歡的，雖然地區排行（其實說穿了不過就家長排行）在中後～但我完全不用害怕「孩子學習倦怠」的隱憂，因為在我看來，對於每天早起身到學校適應得很好（他原是下午班幼稚園），對每一個展開的新日子仍是雀躍的感覺，對家長我來說才是最重要的！

只是家長我本人才需要調整心態，我不是多會教小孩的媽媽，我一樣會盯功課氣到說我不想教了，但又不想塞他進什麼功課班～默默小聲說～下一頁。

我也沒什麼心機規劃他的「放學時間」，目標只放在把父母下班後最重要的「家庭時光」切劃出來，讓一家人在忙碌一天後，可以好好的經營親子關係，交換這一天的感受，有何開心事～家人間互相讚美、鼓勵或是安慰，最後趕小孩上床，讓大家好好睡上一覺。

我想醒來的隔天，有繼續前進的能量和目標，因為至少「努力過好每一天」，才會是一個為新的一天努力的動機呀！

關於梁朝偉用英文受訪後，被一教英文的網紅點出他英文用錯的地方，我不關注一個華人明星的英文會不會講到完美、及格、或糟糕。

梁不是教英文為業，他就算選擇用中文來在美國媒體受訪，也沒有問題。

讓我頗關心的是為甚麼為數不少的華人會認為點出人家的錯誤就是矯枉過正？

其實只要英文不是你的母語，講英文時用錯字、用錯語法，是很正常的。

我有時候也會犯了英文的性別用詞或時間用詞之錯，一旦意識到自己錯了，如果可以很自然的糾正，就馬上自己糾正。

如果意識得太遲，就算了。

你覺得梁朝偉會意識不到嗎？

從他的發音的準確度，他對英語是起碼有個熟悉度，所以我猜他是有辦法意識到自己有可能把She講成He，（到底我們講中文時，基本上他和她的發音都是一樣，而且原本中文裡，「他」是沒有性別之分）。

英文不是母語的人，有時候要切換時，腦中還可能用著中文來幫忙切換的，你一就是會慢了，再不然就會錯了。你被拍錄時，要衡量的是「我自己需要代替導演喊Cut，要求再拍一次嗎？」

梁朝偉會不會因英文被批而玻璃心，我就不知道。

但不少的華人或他的影迷就很肯定玻璃心。

是的電影上英文對白沒講錯，我覺得蠻重要。

之後的一些訪問上錯用語法，很多人會覺得就不是很重要了。既然不是很重要，那麼人家評他講錯，也就是一個再普通不過的事情啊！

講錯了，為何會介意人家點出你講錯了呢？

我們先要接受一件事實，就算對方是「對事不對人」，我們華人對於被批判的本能反應是「對人不對事」。

你批判我講錯語法，就是批判我的人，你就是針對我。但，我批判你的時候，就是對事不對人。

我覺得如果有一天習近平在接受西方媒體訪問時，他決定用英文來回應的話，然後我們可能會看到很多藝人都要為習帝站台表態，甚至可能還會有些小粉紅會宣稱這是中國式英語，搞不好會引發世界大戰。

一個社會面對權威、名人、偉人的時候，還會有遲疑要不要指出對方國王的新衣，是一個民智未開的社會。

翻轉視界 18 Changing Perspective

There's not just one road to the destination, but many roads. You just need to take the little step that’s right in front of you, and then the next one, and a few years down the track, they will seem like massive achievements.

通往目的地的路不止一條，有很多路可走。你只需要邁出眼前這一小步，然後再邁出下一步，幾年下來，將會成為巨大成就。

I didn’t meet my father until I was 6 years old. My parents had a comfortable, middle-class life in Shanghai, or as close as you could get under communism. But they always wanted to live overseas, and just before I was born, my dad came to Sydney to set things up. I don’t know why, but in the end, my mother and I didn’t join him until I was 6.

After that I worked in corporate governance in RMIT, then started to moonlight as a lecturer in the Law Faculty. Eventually, they asked me if I wanted to do a PhD and I blindly said yes! I next worked at Swinburne University, and then was head-hunted to lead the corporate legal team at the Commercial Passenger Vehicles Commission.
