    諾貝爾委員會指出，基因剪刀（genetic scissors）改寫了生命密碼。二位科學家發現了基因科技最有利的工具CRISPR/Cas9 —基因剪刀。這項發現使得研究人員可以非常精準地改變動物、植物、微生物的DNA。對生命科學領域具革命性的影響，特別是新的癌症治療，更使得治療遺傳性疾病的美夢得以成真。

    化學獎主席Claes Gustafsson 表示，具有強大力量的基因編輯技術將影響全人類。不僅徹底改變基礎科學研究，更革新了農作物的養成，並引領、開創突破性的醫學治療方法。

    Emmanuelle Charpentier and Jennifer A. Doudna have discovered one of gene technology’s sharpest tools: the CRISPR/Cas9 genetic scissors. Using these, researchers can change the DNA of animals, plants and microorganisms with extremely high precision. This technology has had a revolutionary impact on the life sciences, is contributing to new cancer therapies and may make the dream of curing inherited diseases come true.

    “There is enormous power in this genetic tool, which affects us all. It has not only revolutionised basic science, but also resulted in innovative crops and will lead to ground-breaking new medical treatments,” says Claes Gustafsson, chair of the Nobel Committee for Chemistry.
