The daily lake series - Lapis lazuli and coral It was a trip in the spring of April, lapis lazuli and coral, those are two things that caught my eyes the most. Blue represents the air, while red sees the life. Lapis lazuli is from the sky, and coral is such a flower. The sprouts have just grown, and hundreds of flowers were whirling in the air, the breeze brought them to the surface of the lake, performing a show with reflected lights. With a cup of spring tea, the steam realized the slight chill of spring and looked toward the scene of natural light and color integrated in the afternoon. Mineral pigments, paper-based gouache, and powder of calcite are used to visualize the wave of water, which has formed the beginning of The daily lake series, to document my observation of lights. I thank you all first for supporting my new passion, and huge shoutouts to friends and fam who modeled and gave valuable insights along the way!!!🙏🙏🙏 If you are interested and have some spare time, I decided to share a little bit about how my passion for photography seeded... ————————————————————— Jan.2019, I picked up a DJI drone with the intention to visit Iceland and capture the wonders of nature. Though the trip did not eventually fall through, the exposure to all the seamless transitions from @samkolder ‘s travel contents and numerous travel opportunities opened a new door for me to videography. I began to visualize surroundings in different perspectives- patterns, colors, lights, frames, compositions, motions. I was too inexperienced to integrate these elements and derive aesthetic contents, but I fell in love with the content creating process. Luckily, having @perrygreeeen as a mentor, I was able to produce a short drone video shot at Death Valley (so ass now that I look back...). Despite having a pile of footages from all the travels in my senior year, I have to put the developing passion on pause because of the start of my full-time job... then COVID came around. The endless loop of dull WFH lifestyle really took a toll on me. I was so tired of being a work machine whirling the same tasks everyday. Fast-forwarded to Dec. 2020, I decided to take an extended break in Taiwan. I picked up a Canon 6D and various zoom lenses from my dad. With the sole intent to recreate some dope shots I’ve seen from other photographers’ work, I went on several photoshoots and was intrigued by the process of capturing/creating moments, which allowed me to withdraw from the worrisome mental state and enjoy the present. And the addiction seeking for symmetries, expressions, and stories rekindled my exploratory state of mind. Idk where photography will lead me to, but I know this shit gonna be fun down the road 🔥
