あなたの性格はIntrovert？それともextrovert？

人の性格は大きく分けて「内向的」と「外交的」の2種類に分けられると言われており、今回はその2つの英語表現について触れてみようと思います。

1) Extrovert
→ 「外交的な人」

Extrovertは、社交的な人や活動的な人など、常に人との交流を積極的に求めるような明るい性格の持ち主のことを指します。

2) Introvert
→ 「内向的な人」
--------------------------------------------------　
　
Introvertは、内向的で社交場にはほとんど参加せず、独りの時間を好むような性格の持ち主のことを表します。日本語の「人見知り」と似たニュアンスがありますが、必ずしも恥ずかしがり屋というわけではなく、単に一人で過ごす時間が好きなタイプの人に対しても用いられる表現です。人見知りについては「人見知り」は英語で「Shy」？をご覧ください。

Do you consider yourself an introvert or extrovert?
（あなたは内向的だと思いますか？外交的だと思いますか？）
　
I'm more of an introvert. I enjoy spending time alone.
（私はどちらかというと内向的です。一人で時間を過ごすのが好きです。）
　
He's definitely an extrovert. He loves socializing with people.
（彼は間違いなく外交的です。彼は人と交流するのが大好きです。）
　
〜会話例１〜

A: Do you think it's harder for introverts to become a good English speaker?
（内向的な人の方が、英語が上手に話せるようになるのは難しいと思いますか？）

B: I don't think being an introvert or extrovert has anything to do with becoming a good English speaker. If you really want to become a good English speaker, you can become one.

We started off the New Year with business development. With a baby on the way there is no time to waste and we gotta hustle even more than we usually do. We traveled to Las Vegas for a convention for our business. Do some socializing & networking. Of course we cannot be in Vegas without stopping in to stuff our faces at one of the buffets. We ended up going to Caesars Palace and filled our bellies at the Bacchanal buffet. Though we didn't eat much we did get a chance to talk about our future and where it's heading. My husband will be busy and since he was the one who wanted this pregnancy and agreed upon full responsibility then he'll have keep his promise to take it all on. We've decided to consider a daycare or nanny as an option for our baby care when he or she arrives. This will be very interesting for me to sit back and watch.
