    ⭐️五月是美國亞太裔傳統月！美國亞太裔外交官在美國國務院扮演重要的角色，在AIT的運作上更是如此！在整個五月份，我們將為各位介紹AIT亞太裔官員的重要貢獻。今天要和大家介紹的是政治組官員林宏美 (Joy Lin) 的故事。

    1930年代時，我的阿嬤在台灣只接受了幾年日語教育，所以她不太會讀寫中文。到了我母親那一代，我媽媽中英文都能通，甚至遠赴美國攻讀博士學位，最後成為美國公民。從某些方面來說，我距離我母親卓越的成就還有一步之遙，我沒有博士學位，中文也不夠流利。但是，我可以很有自信地說，我實踐了媽媽的夢想，而她的夢想就是讓自己的孩子有選擇自己道路的自由。在我人生的前十年，我有一半時間住在美國，一半時間住在台灣，而這樣的經驗也培養了我對國際事務的好奇心。現在，我很自豪能代表美國外派到台灣，並且趁著在台灣的機會，從我家人身上汲取靈感，進而推動並彰顯女性的培力賦權。

    ⭐️It’s Asian-American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! AAPI diplomats are a vital part of the State Department, and especially our AIT operation! All month, we look forward to featuring the important contributions of our AAPI colleagues. Today we are sharing Political Section Officer Joy Lin’s story with you.

    In 1930s Taiwan my grandmother only had a few years of education in Japanese leaving her mostly illiterate in Chinese. A generation later my mother studied Chinese and English, earned a PhD and became a US citizen. By some measures I’m a step away from my mom’s excellence— no PhD and only semi-literate in Chinese. However, I am confidently fulfilling my mom’s dream for her children to have the freedom to choose our own path. Splitting the first decade of my life between the United States and Taiwan fostered a curiosity for international affairs. Now I am proudly representing the United States in Taiwan, where I can draw inspiration from my own family to advocate and celebrate women’s empowerment.

    同朋友講嘢啲逗號、句號，唔需要加得太足，如果唔係容易畀人拘謹感覺。

    講Hi Tiffany 就可以，唔需要一定要講 Hi, Tiffany./ Hi, Tiffany!

    但同老細、同事、客戶唔同。

    如果用中文，逗號句號最好可以用番全形。

    如果用英文，唔該comma、fullstop後面加space，但係喺comma、fullstop前面唔該千祈唔好加space，如果唔係人地覺得你似文盲，喺英文電腦文書上面完全係illiterate。

    呢啲野應該好多人覺得太淺唔會講，但事實上我地見住好多同學冇跟。。。

    （P.S. 冇人會講 Hi, I go to school by bus. 純粹用最簡單方法示範俾大家知道。）

    Nur Idaman Eksklusif, syarikat yang membekalkan baju kurung yang beroperasi di Ipoh, Perak. Percaya atau tidak dahulunya pemilik ini Puan Halimah Muda tidak mempunyai kelulusan yang tinggi malah tidak tahu membaca mahu pun menulis. Disebabkan kekurangan beliau itu, masyarakat sering memandang rendah dan memperlekehkan orang yang tidak berpendidikan seperti beliau. Walaupun mempunyai kekurangan dalam diri tidak menghalang beliau untuk bergelar usahawan berjaya sehinggakan beliau pernah mencapai sales sebanyak RM 18 Juta.

    Mempunyai bagi beliau kekurangan seperti buta huruf yang beliau hadapi tidak akan pernah menjadi menghalang untuk beliau mengecapi impiannya untuk berbisnes. Ujar beliau lagi, “Satu-satunya sekolah saya ialah Richworks, sekolah yang melahirkan ramai usahawan dan para jutawan. Sekolah yang mengajar saya yang buta huruf ini supaya jangan gentar membina impian… “

    Jika 10 tahun sebelum ini, beliau menjalankan bisnes tanpa ilmu dan bimbingan yang betul menyebabkan bisnes beliau selalu mengalami masalah hutang sehinggakan ada satu tahap hutangnya mampu mencecah RM500,000. Hutangnya itu sentiasa ada walaupun berjaya menyelesaikannya. Malah lebih malang lagi, beliau sendiri tidak tahu jumlah perbelanjaan yang dikeluarkan dalam bisnesnya kerana tidak mempunyai rekod wang keluar masuk.

    Namun, pada tahun 2016 permasalahan itu berakhir apabila beliau diperkenal Dr Azizan Osman menerusi perkongsian dari kawannya. Sejak dari itu, beliau berjaya menyelesaikan masalah hutang yang dihadapi melalui perkongsian dari Dr Azizan Osman dan tahun berikutnya beliau komited untuk hadir ke program Nak Ubah Hidup (NUH) bersama - sama suami dan kawan karibnya, Mohd Shukri Rahman dan Suhaila Fauzi.

    Nur Idaman Exclusive, a company that provides baju kurung operates in Ipoh, Perak. Believe it or not before this owner Mrs. Halimah Muda has no high approval but doesn't know how to read and write. Due to his shortcomings, the community often underestimated the uneducated people like him. Despite having shortcomings in himself, it didn't stop him from being a successful entrepreneur until he reached a sales of RM 18 Million.

    Having for him is as shortcomings as he faces will never stop him from stealing his dream of business.     If it was 10 years before, he ran a business without knowledge and guidance that caused his business to always experience debt problems so that there was a level of debt that he could reach RM500, 000. His debt was always there even though he managed to solve it. Even more unfortunate, he himself doesn't know the amount of expenses being spent in his business because he doesn't have a record of incoming money

    However, in 2016 the problem ended when he was known by Dr Azizan Osman through sharing from his friend. Since then, he has successfully solved the debt problem faced through sharing from Dr Azizan Osman and the following year he was committed to attending the program to change his life (NUH) together with his husband and best friend, Mohd Shukri Rahman and Suhaila Fauzi.
