日本語の「ぶっちゃけ」にピッタリの英語表現

日本語では、ある程度の親しい関係の相手に正直な気持ちを打ち明けるときに「ぶっちゃけ」と表現しますが、英語にもそれと全く同じような言い方があるので紹介しようと思います。「To be honest」や「Honestly」でもいいのですが、今回はあえてより「会話的」な表現に特化してみました。

1) I'm not going to lie, _____.
→「ぶっちゃけ〜」

直訳すると「嘘はつきません」となりますが、使い方としては日本語の「ぶっちゃけ」と非常によく似ています。良い意味でも悪い意味でも思っていることや感じていることを包み隠さず相手に率直に伝える場合に用いる、かなり口語的でインフォーマルな表現です。
　
✔文頭で使う。
　
✔“going to”を“gonna”に省略して「I'm not gonna lie」と言うことが多い。
　
✔「To be honest」や「Honestly」も同じ意味だが「I'm not going to lie」の方がより口語的。
　
＜例文＞
　
I'm not gonna lie, I've been playing Pokemon Go too. It's actually pretty addicting.
（ぶっちゃけ、私もPokemon Goをやってるんだ。結構ハマるよね。）
　
I'm not gonna lie, this is the best sushi I've ever had!
（はっきり言って、こんな美味い寿司はこれまでに食べたことがないよ！）
　
I'm not gonna lie, Peter is really starting to get on my nerves.
（しょうみ、ピーターにほんまイライラしてきたわ〜。）

2) To tell you the truth, _____.
→「正直に言うと〜 / 実を言うと」

この表現も正直な気持ちを伝えるということでは上記1)と同じですが、相手が快く受け入れられない、または受けれてくれないかもしれないようなネガティブなことを正直に伝える場合に用いる口語的な言い方になります。例えば、友達が作った料理が「美味しくない」と正直に言う場合は「To tell you the truth, it's not that good.（正直なところ・・・あまり美味しくない）」という具合に使います。
　
✔基本的に文頭で使われがちだが、文末で使ってもOK。
　
✔「To be frank」や「Quite frankly」も同じ意味とニュアンスを持つが、多少かしこまった響きがある。
　
＜例文＞
　
To tell you the truth, I never graduated college. I actually dropped out my freshman year.
（実を言うと、大学を卒業していないんだ。大学一年生の時に中退しちゃったんだよね。）
　
To tell you the truth, I don't want to go out tonight.
（正直、今夜は出かけたくないねんな。）
　
To be frank, I don't think you're going to make it as a musician.
