👉 動詞用了 opt (v.) 選擇，在視覺上或發音上都簡短有力
👉 seam 指「縫隙」，因此 seamless 意即「無縫隙的」
👉 把 join 轉為名詞用，意指「結合（處）」
👉 第一句就可看出作者對英文詞性強大的駕馭功力

2️⃣ As always with Apple’s phones the iPhone 6 has superb balance, it just feels right in your hand.
（一如其他蘋果手機，iPhone 6 的平衡也相當突出，手感相當卓越。）

👉 句首用 as always with 三字簡單推一下蘋果先前的作品
👉 superb （卓越、超凡）這個字選得非常好，比使用其他形容詞最高級更為精準有力
👉 句尾使用較口語的用法 feel right in your hand，讓文風活潑些

3️⃣ The 6.9mm thickness makes it feel sleek yet strong.
（6.9 mm 的厚度使它既雅緻，又耐用。）

👉 英文評論或文宣很強調「數據」或「資訊」，而這個句子完美帶入確切的數據，提升讀者的信任感
👉 iPhone 6 的厚度比前幾代都還薄，但與其用 thin 這個比較平凡的字，作者選了 sleek，把「薄」轉成一種正面的印象（雅緻），別具巧思
👉 sleek 和 strong 都是 s 開頭，押頭韻，能加深讀者的印象

長賜輪在蘇伊士運河擱淺後,綜合外電報導的省思:極限邊緣的船舶操縱,科學與安全之間給”人的反應”留下多少”餘裕空間?

航行員都知道:在有限水域中的船舶操縱與大洋中的船舶操縱有極大的差別,也因此而產生一些”異常反應”的專有名詞,譬如:淺水效應,岸吸/岸推,船體下坐(Squat),狗頭嗅地(Dog smelling),單俥右旋船在淺水區倒俥時之船頭可能向左,主要的原因都是來自船舶四周的海水,來不及湧入去填補船艉所造成之空穴.

也因為這個緣故,Suez Canal當局對過河船隻有一些船寬,吃水,速度上的限制.基於經濟上的考慮,可以想像這些限制都是在”水工模型”下最大化的尺度界線.(越大的船過河費越貴),然而這些都是理想環境下的科學論證,實際上船舶操縱者的精神狀態,駕駛台的氣氛環境,外界視線,無線電之干擾,Marlboro菸未如預期,住艙走廊上”波斯市場”的氛圍….都在影響著”駕駛台資源管理(BRM)”,而使得船舶之實際Performance遊走在”紅線”邊緣,更糟的是一但越過紅線(Point of non-return),情況就越來越糟,猶如在山脊上騎腳踏車.

這次的重大意外,在檢討”船舶因素”之外,蘇伊士運河當局也應該重新考慮”紅線邊緣的緩衝區”是否應適度放寬,以因應船舶無止境的大型化,因應極端氣候下的異常天氣,因應新世代船員之特性,另外也可考慮在駕駛台放一箱Marlboro,讓有需要的人看自己包包大小量力自取,畢竟比起全球供應鏈上的損失,這都是微不足道的”潤滑油”.不是嗎?

The Suez Canal Authority occasionally brings out updated tables of width and acceptable draft for ships. Currently the permissible limits for suezmax ships are 20.1 m (66 ft) of draught with the beam no wider than 50 m (164.0 ft), or 12.2 m (40 ft) of draught with maximum allowed beam of 77.5 m (254 ft). Due to their design and size, a large number of ports around the world can accommodate suezmax vessels.

, a new set is being built for vessels as large as 366 meters in length, 49 meters in beam and 15.2 meters in draft at tropical frvessel.
That would have surpassed the speed limit of about 7.6 knots (8.7 miles an hour) to 8.6 knots that is listed as the maximum speed vessels are “allowed to transit” through the canal, according to the Suez authority’s rules of navigation handbook posted on its website. Captains interviewed for this story said it can pay to increase the speed in the face of a strong wind to maneuver the ship better.
“Speeding up to a certain point is effective,” said Chris Gillard, who was captain of a 300-meter container ship that crossed the Suez monthly for nearly a decade until 2019. “More than that and it becomes counter effective because the bow will get sucked down deep into the water. Then, adding too much power does nothing but exacerbate the problem.”
“You might find yourself positioning the ship in one direction, and you’re actually moving in another direction,” said Kinsey. “There’s a very fine line between having enough speed to maneuver and not having too much speed that the air and hydrodynamics become unstable. Any deviation can get real bad real quick because it’s so tight.”

The accident will be a missed opportunity if the industry doesn’t adapt, he said. “There will be vessels larger than this one that will be going through the Suez,” he said. “The next incident will be worse.”

• Bloomberg reported the Suez Canal speed limit was between 7.6 knots and 8.6 knots.
The Ever Given didn't have a tugboat escort through the canal, according to Bloomberg. The two ships immediately ahead of it reportedly had escorts, although such escorts were not required.

1) Urge to（無性に〜したい）

urgeは名詞で「衝動」を意味することから、突然チョコレートが食べたくなったり、買い物がしたくなったりなど、急に何かをしたい衝動に駆られるときはhave an urge to ____と表現します。ここではhaveをgetやfeelに置き換えて使ってもOKです。また、より強調したい場合はhave a strong urge to ____と言います。
　
＜例文＞
　
Do you ever have an urge to eat donuts?
（ドーナツを無性に食べたくなることはありますか？）
　
I haven’t smoked in over a year but I still feel an urge to smoke every now and then.
（1年以上タバコを吸っていませんが、未だに時々無性にタバコが吸いたくなります。）
　
I had a strong urge to go shopping and went on a shopping spree yesterday.
（無性に買い物がしたくなって、昨日爆買いしてしまいました。）

2) Come to an agreement（合意する）
=================================
　
come to an agreement は合意をしたり、話がまとまることを意味します。特にビジネスの場で耳にすることが多く、意見が合致して交渉がまとまった時や、取引が成立した時に使われます。日常会話では come の代わりに reachを使い、 reach an agreement と表現するのも一般的です。
　
＜例文＞
　
Are you guys still negotiating or did you guys come to an agreement?
（まだ交渉中ですか？それとも合意に至りましたか？）
　
After weeks of going back and forth, we finally reached an agreement.
（数週間の紆余曲折を経て、やっと合意に至りました。）
　
Unfortunately, we failed to come to an agreement.
（残念ながら合意に達しませんでした。）

3) On board（賛成する）
=================================
　
boardは本来、船や飛行機、電車など乗り物に乗ることを意味する単語ですが、日常会話では「賛成する」や「同意する」、「参加する」を意味し、特に提案に賛成する時や、何かに参加する意思表明をする時に使われます。またこの表現は、会社やグループ、チームなどの一員になることも表し、新しく加わったメンバーに対してよく使われる「Welcome on board.」は「ようこそ我が社へ（我がチームへ）」という意味になります。
　
＜例文＞
　
We’re planning on getting a cabin and splitting the cost. Are you on board?
（小屋を借りてみんなで割り勘にする予定だけど、それで大丈夫？）
　
Everyone's on board except for Kevin.
（ケビン以外はみんな賛成です。）
　
Welcome on board. Looking forward to working with you.
（ようこそ我が社へ。あなたと一緒に働くことを楽しみにしています。）

4) Not long after（〜から間もなく）
=================================
　
not long after は「〜から間もなく」を意味する表現です。例えば、「私たちは結婚してから間もなくシンガポールへ引っ越しました」と言いたい場合は「We moved to Singapore not long after we got married.」と言う具合に使います。long afterは「〜してからかなり後に」を意味しますが、この表現は一般的に否定形で使われる傾向があります。
　
＜例文＞
　
He found a job not long after he got laid off.
（彼は解雇されてからすぐに仕事が見つかりました。）
　
Not long after that, she moved back home.
（その後間もなく、彼女は帰国しました。）
　
A tsunami occurred not long after the earthquake.
（地震後、間もなくすると津波が発生しました。）

5) Go crazy（やり過ぎる）
=================================
　
go crazyは「気が変になる」や「頭がおかしくなる」を意味しますが、日常会話では「やり過ぎる」を意味し、必要以上に大量に何かを買ったり、料理をしたりすることを表す時などに使います。例えば、ホームパーティーに招待してくれた友人が、招待客のために半端ない量の食事を作って待っていた時に「You went crazy!（やり過ぎだよ！）」と言うことができます。
　
＜例文＞
　
I went crazy and bought 10 pairs of jeans.
（やり過ぎてジーンズを１０本も買っちゃいました。）
　
This is so much food! You went crazy. Why did you order so much?
（すごい量だね！注文し過ぎだよ。なんでこんなに注文したの？）
　
He went crazy with the Christmas decorations. His office looks like Santa’s house.
