The 2017 London World Championships Men Long Jump Qualification starts in 2 hours, and I'd be lying if I said I was not disappointed.
It's not easy to watch my friends and competitors all preparing for the largest championships this year while I am just here training by myself for different targets. It's true that I would only be fighting for a spot in the final if I were in London, whereas I am a medal contender for the World Universiade. It's true that missing the Worlds is allowing me to better prepare for the World Uni, but it still stings.
I recognise that my feelings about this come from my drive to better myself and my hunger to reach further in my jumps and in my rankings, so here's me promising to give it my all at the World Universiade, and to one day step onto the tracks proudly and confidently as a competitor at my first World Championships!
All the best to the men competing tonight!
