Whenever I bring tourists on a food tour in Geylang, Kwong Satay is one of the must-visit stalls. Kwong Satay’s roots can be traced back to the 1960s when the grandfather of Mr. Wong Chee Kwong peddled satay from a trishaw in Katong. Two decades later, Mr. Wong Chee Kwong continued the family tradition when he started selling satay at Geylang. This flagship stall is now operated by Sim Peng Kuen (also known as Ah Koon). ⁣ ⁣ Made according to their good old recipe which has Hainanese Chinese, Peranakan and Indian influences, the signature pork loin satay and pork belly satay are delicious. The satay spice rub comprises cumin, turmeric, lemongrass, candlenut, fennel, lemongrass and more. Fresh, juicy and succulent, the satay is imbued with a smokiness. The pork belly satay is especially yummy, with a sliver of fat sandwiched between the meat. The satay sauce comes topped with a generous dollop of mashed pineapple puree to give it that extra kick. Two big diversionary arguments being peddled by pro CCP forces 1) "America has tens of thousands of deaths due to flu each year, China has almost none (less than 100) and this Coronavirus is nothing compared to the amount of USA flu deaths" Demonstrably FALSE! If someone is of poor health in China with say for instance heart disease or pneumonia and they contract the flu which then leads to death, their death will be recorded as death due to heart disease / pneumonia, in the west the cause of death will be recorded as complications due to influenza. There are several other factors in the way deaths are recorded in China that lead to these comically small numbers of recorded deaths due to influenza each year never mind the fact that trying to play down the severity of this new untreatable virus by comparing it to the flu is nonsense. 2) "Look how fast China is building a hospital to deal with the situation, in the West no country could build a hospital that fast and in the west no country could shut down big cities and respond so swiftly". By this logic we should praise someone who sat in a burning house for days but then suddenly very quickly ran at Olympic speeds to fetch water from the river in a bucket to throw on his burning house. We should encourage and support the building of medical facilities to deal with this outbreak which China sorely lacks, but to try and pretend that it's somehow a reason to justify the CCP's incredible fumble and downright irresponsible manner in which it tried to cover up/ignore/play down the severity of this virus is laughable, this could have been contained if it were not for the incredibly bad mismanagement of the situation, no speedy construction projects of facilities that should have been there in the first place will fix this.
