    There's not just one road to the destination, but many roads. You just need to take the little step that’s right in front of you, and then the next one, and a few years down the track, they will seem like massive achievements.

    I didn’t meet my father until I was 6 years old. My parents had a comfortable, middle-class life in Shanghai, or as close as you could get under communism. But they always wanted to live overseas, and just before I was born, my dad came to Sydney to set things up. I don’t know why, but in the end, my mother and I didn’t join him until I was 6.

    #睡前故事：【密室逃脫】

    有一天，我被拋擲進了一個密室裡去了。密室裡黑漆漆的，只有我一人。我沒有帶水，沒有帶食物，也沒有任何的行裝，甚至沒有衣服。

    「這不是一趟旅行，也不是禁錮。當然，你有權利可以逃離這個房間。這不過是一個普通的房間。」有一把聲音從天花板響起來告訴我說。然後，在我的前方，有一個時鐘亮了光，它的時針與分針轉了一個圈後停定下來，定在十時十分的位置。

    我走近時鐘，發現它放在一張木凳上，旁邊放了一堆磁石，還有一張設計圖。我仔細閱讀這張設計圖，思索著這必然跟這時鐘裝置有關，而我深信只要明白這時鐘的機關，我就可以逃離這個密室。此時，我在設計圖的右下角，看見自己的簽名。

    這個簽名跟我護照上的簽名不同，也不是我用來簽信用卡的那一個。我認得它，它是我小時候用的簽名。簽名由 a、b、c 三個字母組成，寫出來像我中文名字的最後一個字。小時候，我認為這是我很了不起的創作。而我也想起了他，他是阿泰。

    阿泰是我小學六年級時唯一的朋友。同學們都不喜歡我們倆，於是我們成為了好朋友。當時的我們不知道什麼是物理，卻對物理相關的題目很有興趣，我們問老師很多問題：為什麼我們平時用十進制，而時間單位卻是十二進制呢？一分鐘由六十秒組成，但「一秒」的時間長度是怎樣定下來的呢？如果沒有了時間，世界會變成怎樣呢？諸如此類的問題，不單令同學覺得我倆是怪胎，也令老師討厭我們。

    這張設計圖是阿泰與我一起畫的，這是我們心目中的「永動機」的設計圖。我們相信，只要建立起一個循環結構，以磁石 A 推動磁石 B，令磁石 B 推動磁石 C，再由磁石 C 推動磁石 A，並在過程中確保能量不會流失，就可以這樣製造出永續的動力。

    我在這個密室，不知道花了多少時間，撥動時鐘的時針和分針來組合不同的「有意義的數字」，如我的生日、阿泰的生日、阿泰的高度、小學的門牌號碼等等。最後，能夠打開第一個密室門的號碼組合，是我們小學畢業禮的日子。那天，我跟阿泰說「我們在不同中學讀書，但一定要常常見面啊！」，從此，我們沒有再見。

    第二個密室，像一個卡通片公主的夢，充滿了粉紅色，以及像棉花糖的雲，或說像雲的棉花糖。這些棉花糖雲是由幾棵大樹生出來的，這些樹像吹泡泡機一般，從沒有花沒有葉的樹枝吹出了一朵朵棉花糖雲。

    棉花糖雲沒有味道，不像兒時母親買給我的棉花糖的甜。那一種甜是會刮傷舌頭的，但每一次經過遊樂場門外，我都會嚷著要母親買給我一枝棉花糖。棉花糖先生教我拿著一枝竹籤於一部圓形吹風機中心轉動，讓竹籤慢慢生出棉花糖來。那一個棉花糖並不便宜，但總比遊樂場的門票便宜，後來遊樂場倒閉了，我始終沒有進去過一次，卻吃了不少它門外的棉花糖。

    我發現，第二密室的棉花糖雲會不斷長大一直膨脹。如果我不去阻止它，它勢必塞滿了整間密室而令我窒息。最後，我竟然想到了用毛線綁紮起棉花糖雲。這些毛線是從母親給我織的毛衣而來的，而當棉花糖雲被毛線紥緊了以後，它們就成為了臘腸一般的物體。

    第三間密室是一個分不清上下前後的幻方空間。我站在中心點不敢輕舉妄動，上下左右前後六面的螢幕閃現了不同的風景名勝，博物館、寺廟、草原、高山、水平線、極光 ⋯⋯ 我知道，這些都是我去過的地方，我知道，這間密室要暗示我想起誰。

    我與她沒有成為伴侶，但我每一次旅行，每到達一個異地，我都會寄她一張明信片，直至最後一張，寄出的明信片寄回到回郵地址，並標示「查無此人」。在這張明信片上，有一個島國西岸上的燈塔，這燈塔就在密室左方的螢幕上，我往燈塔走去，打開了通往第四個密室的門。

    在第四密室，我終於見到牠了，牠是密室的主人。

    「為什麼你要帶我來這裡呢？」我問。
    「你認到這個密室的配置嗎？」怪物說。
    「是乾涸的泳池？」
    「不是。」
    「是什麼呢？」
    「這些鴨子沒有喚起你什麼記憶嗎？」
    「這些沒有腳的鴨子？」
    「對啊！沒有腳的鴨子。」
    「這是我的浴缸！」我激動起來。「你不能夠闖進我的浴缸。」
    「你以為在這裡，你就可以有絕對的私隱，絕對的自由嗎？」
    「難道我連一個人浸浴也要跟給人監視，也要跟任何人負責嗎？」
    「你說呢？」怪物說。
    「我知道你是誰！」我說。
    「你知道了，那又如何？」
    「為什麼我逃離了一個密室又是另一個密室，究竟我要怎樣才能夠逃出去？」
    「難道你不知道自己一直往內裡逃，而不是往外面逃嗎？」怪物說。「逃，不一定可以逃出去，有時候，反而逃得更深。」

    從此，我，與怪物，在密室裡繼續過日子。
