Did you know there are growing need for Mandarin teachers in the United States in recent years? Building Taiwan to be one of the most important destinations in the world for foreigners to learn Chinese language is one of the goals of U.S.-Taiwan Education Initiative. The U.S. government also increased the annual allocation of the Fulbright funding to support U.S.-Taiwan exchanges and facilitate Taiwan’s Chinese language education. At the “Teaching Chinese as a Second Language Symposium” today, AIT Deputy Director Raymond Greene joined a panel discussion to discuss ways of supporting Taiwan’s Chinese language education at international level and introduced the U.S. government sponsored Chinese language exchange programs. U.S. and Taiwan will continue work together to identify potential steps to enhance Taiwan’s critical role in providing Chinese instruction both to Americans and to people around the world. 在投資歐洲論壇上，許多歐洲的駐台代表，都強調歐洲是在台灣最大的投資夥伴。甚至超過中國；而我也代表智庫，向這一些友我國家夥伴們表達，在教育上，過去台灣的學生到歐洲遊學、留學，對自身教育發展的投資，金額也非常高，而帶給他們往後人生、事業的影響，更是無法估算。

這一種正面的影響，我們希望在教育上，文化上，有更緊密的合作。

比方說，重要政經智庫的連結，定期性對國際經貿情勢在會議上交流資訊；訪問學人機制的建立、類似美國中文領航計劃的拓展。讓友善我國的學者，在歐洲相關的學術、產業、科技、文教論壇上，增強我國的能見度，與品牌影響力

幾位歐洲的代表，也提供歐盟獎學金（給台灣學生的）的資訊；未來我們也會盡量在社群網站上，協助宣傳這些資訊，幫助台灣青年學子。

其他包含台灣、歐洲的軟實力連結，影視、文化、教育、休憩、創新及科技的工作坊，都是未來合作的方向。

非常令我感到開心的是，一些參與智庫前幾天舉辦的台灣健保政策論壇的朋友，也出現在論壇上，並跟我正面反饋。

My day is off to a great start as I’m at the inaugural EU Investment Forum happening right now in Taipei. My friends and colleagues are well aware that I’m very passionate about internationalizing Taiwan, and so I’m extremely grateful to the European External Action Service’s EETO Taipei for putting on this event. Taiwan, it’s time to #GoEurope!

As President Tsai Ing-wen noted in her keynote speech, Taiwan didn’t use the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic as an excuse for isolationism. Instead, we’ve seen it as an opportunity to buttress our standing in the international system. And that’s the way to go!

My presence here will also facilitate the work of our research program on Taiwan’s soft power at Taiwan NextGen Foundation. The interplay of soft power and international investment ought not to be underestimated.

9. The organiser reserves the right to change these terms and conditions and terminate the activity at any time without prior notice. The organiser accepts no liability for any such change or termination.
