    What’s the relationship between a yellowish complexion and liver?
    People often tell us having a yellowish complexion is an indication of liver problems. If the liver does not function properly, the white of the eyes will also turn yellow. Hence, according to Chinese Medicine theories, having a yellowish complexion has to do with the weakness of qi in the spleen and stomach or the dampness that stagnates in a weak spleen.

    Individuals with a weak spleen may have yellowish complexion, loose muscles, mushy stools, do not have a good appetite, and experience fatigue, bloating, and edema. The condition may also cause stunted growth in children.

    To improve this condition, we have to take good care of our spleen by drinking rice water and consuming ingredients such as rice, millet, Chinese yam, hyacinth bean, poria, corn, oats, and potatoes. Eat at regular hours and avoid raw, cold, and sweet foods. Gently massage the San Li acupoint with the thumb for 2-3 minutes on a regular basis to strengthen the spleen.

    Zu San Li Acupoint
    Effects: strengthens the spleen and stomach, clears heat and dispels dampness
    Location: on the anterior aspect of the lower leg, four-finger breadth below knee cap.

    ✔ Recommendation: Dawn Rice Water
    Ingredients: Red Rice, Coix Seed, White Rice
    Effects: Suitable for the whole family to enhance physical wellbeing, especially those with a weak digestive system or with a phlegm and dampness body type.
    Note: Not suitable for pregnant women.

    Lai Yee's Kitchen - Nutella Bars

    Another Spoil-Your-Kids-Day kind of dessert for Friday movie night. They were craving for Nutella and so I am making Nutella bars for them. It is so easy to prepare and no baking is needed. Let's do it!

    Ingredients for 8-9" square tray/bowl :
    - 1 pack of Digestive biscuits, pounded
    - 1 cup of dark chocolate chips or any baking chocolate
    - 1/2 cup maple syrup or sugar. I like them less sweet, so I had reduced to 1/4 cup
    - 1/2 cup butter, melted
    - 5 tbsp Nutella
    - 2 tbsp peanut butter (optional)

    Add-ons: you can always add hazelnuts, coconut powder or almond flour into the crust for more nutty flavour. Have fun!

    I did not show u where I have added the peanut butter in the video. But you may add between the crust base and the chocolate layer. I left them in the freezer for about 1hour. It was delicious. So nice with a cup of coffee or tea.

    I love cooking and Batik. So today I feel like wearing Batik to cook.
    How many of you like bitter gourd? I love them. So today I am trying out this dish, and I love it.

    Ingredients:
    . A few regular size bitter gourds (I am using the small ones in this video as I couldnt find the normal regular type)
    . 4 eggs or more, you can use salted eggs too
    . salt, but if u use salted eggs then you dont need salt
    . vinegar

    For the dipping sauce:
    . chopped garlic and onions
    . cut chili padi
    . spring onions. sesame
    . soya sauce. vinegar
    . lime juice
    . boiling oil

    Here are some good benefits of bitter gourds that i found online: Regular consumption of bitter gourd has a positive impact on gut health. It not only treats intestinal disorders like constipation and stomach ache but is equally beneficial for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) as it helps kill parasites that enter the digestive system.
    Anyone who is diagnosed with diabetes is prescribed to eat bitter gourd. It contains three active substances with anti-diabetic properties, namely polypeptide-p, vicine, and charanti, which have been confirmed to have insulin-like properties and blood glucose lowering effects.
    Bitter gourd is a rich source of vitamin C that comes with plenty of antioxidant properties.The antimicrobial and antioxidant properties of bitter gourd help in removal of toxins. Moreover, it can help wipe out all kinds of intoxication settled in your liver. Thus, bitter gourd heals many liver problems as well as cleanses your bowel.
    Bitter gourd is a good source of potassium, magnesium, and calcium, which all have a positive effect on the heart.Bitter gourd contains lycopene, lignans, and carotenoids, along with good amounts of vitamin A, zea-xanthin and lutein, which are the primary antioxidants and nutrients that fight and scavenge these free radicals.
