【週日不談跑——玩物養志】

沒有誰還會覺得「玩物喪志」吧？越來越覺得，玩物是長知識的理想方法。電玩，已是一例。

疫情期間，大熱的《動森》就教紐約博物館提供四十餘萬藝術展品；Ubisoft《刺客教條》又給大眾免費下載教育版，玩家可以漫遊古希臘與古埃及世界；微軟也沒閒著，同樣為著名沙盒遊戲《我的世界》推出免費教育版。早幾天，才看到朋友與其幼子玩《我的世界》玩過不亦樂乎。

造福玩家，賺了宣傳，更建立形象。遊戲公司的這一著，實在是少少笨多多精。

昨天看《信報》香睿剛專欄，才得知PS4《對馬戰鬼》遊戲背景是日本鎌倉幕府時期，對抗蒙古軍入侵的一段歷史。作者盛讚此作製作細緻，目前坊間也在估計它是否會在PS5重製。值得一提，據說這遊戲（又）有中國玩家投訴，認為遊戲角色殺害蒙古軍是「反華」云云。

說到關於「中國人民感情」的遊戲新聞，除了switch「動森」下架那宗之外，其實早前另一switch遊戲《世界遊戲大全51》也有些小風波——任天堂找來大陸團隊為遊戲錄製中文版配音。原本老任要求團隊說臺灣腔，但團隊最後「成功爭取」以大陸腔錄音，也就是現在的版本。這事在兩岸惹起怎樣的爭議，不難想像。

找大陸團隊扮臺灣腔，這事本身其實已頗為騎呢。但撇除配音問題，我想說的是，《世界遊戲大全51》確是個很長知識的好遊戲。

一如其名，此遊戲就是世界各地桌上小遊戲的結集。有棋，有牌，有足球機等等，乍看之下似是一碟廉價炒雜碎，將網頁免費小遊戲惺惺作態地趁switch一機難求之下大撈一筆。

我對老任第一方出品頗為信任，加上本身對此作有點好奇，所以沒管太多就把遊戲買了下來（反正以switch遊戲來說它只屬中價）。稍玩過後，已發現其畫面質感、對戰功能等已對得起價錢。

更重要的是，此遊戲會令你認識不少世界經典古老遊戲。其中有些頗為簡單，例如非洲的播棋（Mancala），要贏電腦沒幾多困難。但有些則不太容易，例如法國的點格棋（Dots and Boxes）已足夠把我難倒。

此遊戲最令我欣賞的，是遊戲巧妙地向世界傳揚日本傳統文化。例如花札，單是48張牌背面的動植物圖案，已蘊藏了不少日本十八世紀的歷史文化習俗。遊戲中加插了以孖寶兄弟的花札牌，更在提醒大家任天堂在生產遊戲前，正是一家以製作花札牌的公司。

又例如將棋，自從有緣在「將棋之鄉」山形縣天童市跑過一趟半馬，已對這種傳統日本棋類遊戲格外有印象。如今《世界遊戲大全51》收錄了遊戲，在其易明的教學與試玩之下，終於搞懂了這遊戲是怎麼一回事。

日本將棋與中國象棋及西洋棋並稱三大象棋，在華人世界相對來說愛好者較少。但在日本，這是國技。優秀的日本將棋棋士，是超級國寶。例如羽生善治，就曾拿過「國民榮譽獎」。這獎，日本史上只頒過給二十多人。現在爆紅的花滑選手羽生結弦，就是兩年前的獲獎者。馬拉松界（甚至應該說是田徑界）呢？截至目前僅有一人，就是曾打破世界紀錄兼奪奧運金牌的高橋尚子。

查著查著，我更查出了一套幾年前的電影《聖的青春》。此片描述天才而早夭的棋手村山聖，其中羽生善治的角色也佔了若干戲份。村山聖真人身型肥胖，電影找來松山研一（《死亡筆記》飾演L那位）增肥飾演。松山在這部戲演出不俗，看得人黯然神傷。

好了，再說下去，根本不會說完。你看，不須一個遊戲，單是52分之1個遊戲已可令我漫遊網海多時，老任真是一家不簡單的公司。

（任天堂公司本身也吸引了我買了兩本書——《遊戲結束》及《任天堂哲學》，略略翻過又是頗見精采，今篇已寫太多，有機會才再談。）

//政府早前宣布，所有由大陸來港的人都要強制檢疫。原來，所謂強制並非真的強制（compulsory、mandatory），而係靠自律（self-discipline）。

事實是，抵埗之後即可以自行乘車離開，基本上去哪兒都沒問題。After arrival, you can take any transport to go home or practically any other destination, unguarded.

《明報》有這樣的相關報道：「有人明言不會遵守檢疫令，照常上班；另有夫婦返家途中到街市買菜，未有於兩小時限期內返抵住所。」Some made it clear that they wouldn’t comply with the quarantine order, and would go back to work as usual; there was also a couple who went shopping at a wet market on their way, failing to get home within the two-hour time limit.

有官員解釋：It’s quarantine, not isolation，是檢疫，不是隔離。如此說來，所謂強制檢疫（mandatory quarantine），說到底不過是自律隔離（ self-disciplined isolation）罷了。也即是說，整個機制形同虛設：It's a sham mechanism.

Sham，a thing that is not what it is purported to be，並非如聲稱中真實的東西，一般會譯做虛幻，可作名詞或形容詞。另例：

* Hong Kong's pro-democracy protesters call the "one country, two system" promise a sham. 香港的民主抗爭者認為一國兩制承諾只屬虛幻。

視乎上文下理，用英文講形同虛設，另一些選擇是：

* It's a mere pretence. 不過是裝個樣子。
* It's a feigned setup. 這是一個騙局
* It exists in name only. 亦即等於中文的「有名無實」。

面對一場嚴重疫症，林鄭政府的取態給詬病為not preventive（ 非防禦性），not even interactive，甚至不是互動的，而是純粹reactive、passive（被動的）。出事了，就去回應、籌措一下，惹來一些嚴厲批評。《彭博商業周刊》網站一篇評論Hong Kong Is Showing Symptoms of a Failed State 有這兩句話：

* A fragile state is usually defined by its inability to protect citizens, to provide basic services and by questions over the legitimacy of its government. 脆弱政權的一般定義是：未能保護公民、未能提供基本服務，以及管治合法性受到質疑。

* After an epidemic and months of poorly handled pro-democracy demonstrations, Hong Kong is ticking most of those boxes. 經過一場疫症及連月來處理民主抗爭的失誤，香港政府符合大部分條件。

這篇評論的附圖，見一家超市內的貨架都被一掃而空，文字說明道：It's not Kinshasa or Caracas. But it doesn't look much like a global financial centre either.這不是（剛果首都）金沙薩，也不是（委內瑞拉首都）加拉加斯。但看起來也不像世界金融中心（香港）。//

I had two roommates that kept eating all of my food. Although classes haven't started, I had already moved into my dorm. One day, I made myself a peanut butter sandwich. I put my sandwich on the table, and ten minutes later, it was gone. My roommate ate it. About a week later, I decided to make myself another peanut butter sandwich. I opened my cupboard and saw that my roommates left an empty jar in my cupboard. I flipped out because who eats a whole jar of peanut butter, without introducing themselves? These girls would scarf down all my food, and complain if they thought anyone was touching their food. So I started buying really fattening food such as doughnuts, pies, cakes. I was trying to teach them self-restraint, but these girls would go through these boxes within two days. So I kept buying doughnuts and desserts. And then one day they started complaining about how they couldn't fit their jeans. Success. I also put laxatives in my peanut butter.

It was move out day and my roommate was working on a paper last minute. I was packing my stuff. His parents walked in and were absolutely pissed that he wasn't packed yet. They immediately started scolding him while I was still in the room, but thankfully I had a final to go to and figured I'd dodge the storm. I said my goodbyes, assuming they'd be gone by the time I got back from my two hour final and went on my way. As it happens, my final only took twenty minutes so I got back much sooner than they'd have expected. I opened the door, saw my roommate bent over his bed with his bare ass showing just as his mom wound up for a spank. I quickly closed the door and went over to a friend's dorm until I felt safe enough to return. I never brought it up to him after that.
