    筋骨損傷要補肝腎
    中國人飲食有「以形補形」的觀念,故以為凡筋骨損傷,多喝雞腳湯、豬骨湯或鹿筋湯等會有幫助,但這只對慢性勞損能稍作紓緩,如屬急性創傷,以穴位按摩、推拿、針灸、拔罐配合中藥更為見效。而到了休養期,食療宜補肝腎、強筋骨,因中醫理論認為「肝主筋、脾主肌肉、腎主骨」,適量飲用有補益肝腎作用的湯水有助創傷癒合,桑寄生、黑豆、栗子、核桃、花生等食材都有補肝腎的功效。然而有損傷宜先諮詢註冊中醫師,找出致傷原因,選取最合適的治療方案。

    食材小貼士:
    杜仲性溫,有補肝腎、強筋骨,並有安胎作用。

    蓮藕杜仲黨參湯
    功效:補肝腎,紓緩腰膝痠軟、容易疲倦等症狀。
    材料:蓮藕1根(約3節)、杜仲15克、黨參15克、黑豆30克、栗子80克、核桃20克、蜜棗2枚
    做法:
    1. 所有材料洗淨,蓮藕去皮切塊;栗子去皮取肉備用。
    2. 鍋中加入2500毫升水,放入全部材料,武火煮至水滾,調文火煮1.5小時,最後下鹽調味即可。

    Replenish the liver and kidneys when the bones and joints are damaged
    The Chinese cuisine philosophy believes that we should consume chicken feet soup, pork bone soup, or deer tendon soup when we sustain injuries on our bones and joints. These soups could in fact help relieve mild injuries.

    But to deal with more severe injuries, we should rely on acupuncture, massage of the acupoints, tuina (Chinese therapeutic massage), cupping therapy, and Chinese medicine. During the recovery period, we should consume foods that can replenish the liver and kidney and strengthen the bones and joints. This is because Chinese Medicine believes that ‘the liver governs the joints, the spleen governs the muscles, and the kidney governs the bones’.

    Consuming soups that can nourish the liver and kidney can expedite the recovery. Ingredients such as mulberry mistletoe stem, black bean, chestnut, walnut, and peanut can nourish these two internal organs. Do consult registered and licensed Chinese physicians and find out the cause of the damage so that they can customize a suitable treatment for the patients.

    Tips on ingredient:
    Eucommia bark is warm in nature; can nourish the liver and kidney, strengthen the bones and joints, and stabilize pregnancy.

    Lotus root and Eucommia bark soup with Codonopsis root
    Effects: Nourishes the liver and kidneys. Relieves weak knees and lower back, and frequent fatigue.
    Ingredients: 1 lotus root (about 3 knots), 15g eucommia bark, 15g codonopsis root, 30g black bean, 80g chestnut, 20g walnut, 2 candied dates
    Preparation:
    1. Rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Cut the peeled lotus root into pieces. Peel the chestnuts.
    2. Combine all ingredients with 2500ml of water in a pot and cook on high heat until boiling. Turn to low heat and simmer for 1.5 hours. Add salt to taste.

    1. 所有材料洗淨,紅蘿蔔、新鮮淮山、薯仔去皮切塊備用。
    2. 鍋中加入2500毫升水,放入全部材料,武火煮至水滾,調文火煮1.5小時,最後下鹽調味即可。

    Soup to combat nasal allergies
    Nasal allergies are a common occurrence in cities. Many urban dwellers are born with weak lungs, prone to getting frequent colds, and have a weaker immune system. Some may sneeze and develop a nose itch and runny nose when they experience a change of temperature.

    According to the Chinese Medicine theories, nasal allergies are associated with the lungs, spleen, and kidneys. Apart from congenital defects, our unhealthy dietary habits and lifestyle can also cause these organs to deteriorate and in turn cause us to develop allergic rhinitis.

    It takes great patience to treat nasal allergies. Besides drinking soup that can strengthen the qi and moisten the lungs, we need to adjust our lifestyle and avoid eating raw and cold food. Also, do consume ingredients that could nourish the lungs and qi such as Chinese yam, lily bulb, snow fungus, poria, and white hyacinth bean. Remember to consume them according to our body constitutions.

    Tips on ingredient:
    Cordyceps flower is mild in nature. It nourishes the lungs and kidney and strengthens areas of weakness. It also moistens and protects skin and has anti-aging effects. Cordyceps flower is suitable for all body types.

    Effects: Replenishes qi and strengthens the spleen. Relieves fatigue and nasal allergies.
    Ingredients: 15g cordyceps flower, 1 carrot, 1 fresh Chinese yam, 2 potato, 2 candied dates, 1 pack dawn rice water powder or 1/2 rice scoop of white rice
    Preparation:
    1. Rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Cut the peeled carrot, fresh Chinese yam and potato into pieces.

    Sanitise our hands and avoid touching our noses and mouths as if our hands are in contact with the virus.

    Aren’t we creating a healthy community collectively when each of us fight the virus accordingly?
