I have a stole away on my hanging Rhipsalis pot. It’s a fern, and it think it’s from Boston 🏴☠️
Also known as the “Sword Fern” Nephrolepis exaltata ‘Bostoniensis,’ is a popular / wild growing fern that’s easy to care for and if you have a tropical garden; it’ll sprout out of nowhere in creases, nooks and corners
It’s “fronds” (leaves) look like sword hence the name 🗡
They’re beautiful as a hanging basket, and not as diva as the Maidenhair Fern. They love humidity, moist soil, and indirect light.
So this fella has been growing sneakily at the bottom of the pot and I notice there’s runners / stolons on it (swipe to see close up). I read ferns can be propagated by division or via the runners. Just stick into soil.
I also notice the runners has tiny hairs, and I’m wondering if this has been the cause of my hay fever at home 😅
I’m still figuring out why recently I kept getting rashes, welts and itchiness on my nose, face, ear, hands. I read ferns gives such allergic reaction similar to poison ivy.
Also do u know ferns can be either male or female ? 🚻
Is my love for plants causing me to have allergic reactions? 🏥
