2010-02-18 01:13:17The Wat Chalong Temple festival and fair is a celebration for the Chinese New Year and offers a bit of everything. From goods of just about anything you can think of for sale from Blue Jeans to Electronics, clothes, toys, and of course, a Taste of Thailand with vendors from all over the country bringing their style of food.
There will be live concerts by Thai celebrities, Thai Boxing, contests of all sorts, and a Drive-In style movie theatre playing movies to large crowds each night.
Chinese New Year, Lunar New Year, or Spring Festival is the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays. It is commonly called "Lunar New Year", because it is based on the lunisolar Chinese calendar. The festival traditionally begins on the first day of the first month (Chinese: 正月; pinyin: zhēng yuè) in the Chinese calendar and ends on the 15th; this day is called Lantern Festival. Chinese New Year's Eve is known as chú xī. It literally means "Year-pass Eve".
Chinese New Year is the longest and most important festivity in the Chinese Lunar Calendar. The origin of Chinese New Year is itself centuries old and gains significance because of several myths and traditions. Ancient Chinese New Year is a reflection on how the people behaved and what they believed in the most.
Chinese New Year is celebrated in countries and territories with significant Han Chinese populations (Chinatowns), such as Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand. Chinese New Year is considered a major holiday for the Chinese and has had influence on the new year celebrations of its geographic neighbors, as well as cultures with whom the Chinese have had extensive interaction. These include Koreans (Seollal), Tibetans and Bhutanese (Losar), Mongolians (Tsagaan Sar), Vietnamese (Tết), and the Japanese before 1873 (Oshogatsu). http://www.tigermuaythai.com![post-title]()

關於夏曆新年的英文講法，是「Chinese New Year」不是「Lunar New Year」！港獨派的一直反對用Chinese New Year，因為要脫離中國，他們的反共，其實是反華、反中華、反華夏。他們說越南、韓國、日本、南洋都慶祝農曆新年，故此不能稱之為中國新年 － 但問題是，我們講中文的時候，是說「中國新年」的嗎？不是啊，我們只講新年、「新正頭」或農曆新年。
華夏用的是陰陽合曆（lunisolar calendar）而不是陰曆（lunar calendar） － 很多古民族都採用陰陽合曆的，只有伊斯蘭文化區採用陰曆。故此，說lunar new year是不對的，也會與其他使用陰曆的文化混淆（如伊斯蘭地區的新年）。
西人被逼講「Chinese New Year」，是他們語彙貧乏的問題。正如我們會講天下、神州、震旦、中華、華夏、中國，但他們只是講「China」 － 這是他們的問題，但我們不能教錯他們，逼他們講錯誤的「Lunar New Year」！
