Siti Nabila is only 9 years old and she is suffering from childhood cancer. She has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia that requires 2 years of active treatment with long term follow up care.

She has had a sad start in life, having been given up for adoption by her birth parents who were Indonesian undocumented migrants. Luckily for her, she was adopted by a compassionate Sarawakian couple from Kuching, but they are still waiting for formal adoption papers to be processed.

Siti Nabila’s adopted father works as general labourer and her adopted mother is a housewife. They also have their own 5 year old daughter, and they live very simply, on a household income of RM1500 per month, with no savings and are financially struggling.

Our team had paid one family a special visit upon a request for medical tubes. The lovely boy in the photo needs to undergo a surgery for hydrocephalus (excess water on the brain). The tube that helps him urinate costs the family RM15 per week.

As a labourer, the boy’s father is currently cut off from his means of income which is unfortunate since there are 9 mouths to feed.. 8 children in which 5 are still in school. Despite receiving JKM financial aid of RM350, the amount will be further deducted since the little boy is now able to walk.
