The IUCN Species Survival Commission has issued a call for immediate action to save Saola from extinction. In a position statement released recently, they emphasize the critical need for greater search efforts for the elusive species.

Since its discovery in 1992, there has been little detection of the animal, which suggests that it is now very rare. However, only 30% of potential Saola habitat in the Annamite Mountains on the border of Vietnam and Laos has been surveyed and as little 2% of that intensively. Experts believe the species still exists in the wild, but with the rising threat from snares, time is running out to find and save them.

“It is clear that search efforts must be significantly ramped up in scale and intensity if we are to save this species from extinction,” Nerissa Chao, director of the IUCN SSC Asian Species Action Partnership says. “For this to happen, there needs to be sustained financial investment in targeted locations.”

Physically, the Warrior strengthens your entire body muscles. At the same time, teaching you to relax certain muscles that you are tensing up. Just like in life, it teaches how to acknowledge what areas you are holding intensively and how you can learn to relax. Mentally, it challenges you with your mind body coordination. Emotionally it helps you develop courage since this is a heart opening pose. It also encourage you to find peace in the pose when your leg is shaking and the pose is difficult. Just like in life, it teaches you to overcome challenges with a stride.

Salted Preserved Lemons are the lemons that have been pickled in salt for about a week or more.

They are common in Indian and North African (Moroccan) cuisine. It is much talked about in Japan on TV and magazines recently, so I am sharing this idea :)

The flavor is mildly sour, and of course very salty. Thus, the juice and the peels can be used as a salt seasoning (substitute). However, peels are intensively salty, so I personally don't recommend using it. hehe

These are some good effects that you can expect from Salted Preserved Lemons:
- cut down salt intake (prevents swelling)
- citric acid will help carbohydrate metabolism (beauty effect)
- rich in Vitamin C (beauty effect)

Salted Preserved Lemons

Difficulty: Super Easy
Time: 10min
Number of Servings: 500ml glass jar

Necessary Equipment:
500ml glass jar

Ingredients:
300g (10oz.) organic lemons
30g (1oz.) salt (10% of lemon)

Directions:
1. Pour some hot water in a glass jar to disinfect it. Empty the jar and dry it out. It will dry quickly with residual heat.
2. Wash the lemons, dry them with paper towels, cut off and discard the end pieces, cut into wedges, then remove the seeds.
3. Put salt and lemon wedges alternately in the jar. Close the lid securely.
4. Keep it in the fridge for a week. Shake the jar once a day.

* You can keep it in the fridge up to 3 months.
