Had a chat with a publishing house regarding the launch of a glossy, bold faced type coming to the city. I had more questions than answers... And I think they were left a bit perplexed too. In an oversaturated media market where monthlies are unquestionably suffering in the pandemic (pre pandemic in fact, but we just don't talk about the protests anymore), to launch a hyped title in a market exhausted with unearned hyperbola, it seems like hubris in the making. Men's magazines are a notoriously difficult ballgame altogether. So many titles have cropped up and culled over the past two decades. 森林裡，毛絨絨的狐狸、水貂、貉，以及我們身邊的貓咪、狗狗和兔子，是不是很可愛呢？然而，這些動物卻經常因為自己美麗的皮毛而死…… 將動物的毛皮製成服飾的皮草產業，除了造成對動物的傷害以外，也對環境帶來重大的污染。動物排放的糞尿和氣味，還有處理皮草時所用的有毒化學品等酸性防腐物質，會強烈侵蝕土壤和水體，造成不可逆的污染，環境代價相當高。另一方面，從養殖場逃出的動物，也可能成為對當地生態的威脅。皮草養殖場還存在著傳播人畜共通疾病的問題，新冠肺炎(covid-19)已讓丹麥、荷蘭等十個國家的養殖場中的水貂生病，數百萬水貂因此被撲殺。此外，在加工過後，皮草製品上的有毒物質，如六價鉻（容易造成腎臟、神經和生殖系統損傷）、甲醛（誘發過敏和癌症）和鉛等，都威脅著消費者的健康。 由於動保和環保意識逐漸提高，店家往往聲稱自己賣的是人造皮草，但是，很多皮草的價格低廉，甚至沒有成份的標示，連專家也僅能用「燃燒法」來辨別真假。如果大家在商店裡看到了毛絨絨飾品，請小心謹慎地避開它們，幫助每年數千萬隻的動物和環境不受傷害。 很高興參與了#drawingearthaction 活動，謝謝@ccinyee的邀請！ Furry foxes, minks, raccoon dogs in the forests, along with cats, dogs and rabbits near us are cute, are they not? But they often die because of their beautiful fur. Other than hurting the animals, fur also pollutes the environment. Animal waste and toxic chemicals used to preserve fur erode the land and the water, cause irreversible contamination, and impose great cost to the environment. At the same time, animals who escaped from factory farms can also threaten the local ecology. Fur farms also contribute to the spread of pathogens between animals and humans. Because of COVID-19, Denmark, Holland, and about ten other countries have culled millions of minks. In addition, after industrial processing of fur, fur products all contain toxic chemicals, such as hexavalent chromium that harms the kidney, the nervous system, and the reproductive system, formaldehyde, a carcinogen and an allergen, and lead. All these chemicals threaten consumers’ health. Because of the increasing awareness around animal welfare and the environmental problems, many businesses would claim that the fur they sell is synthetic. However, many fur products are sold at a very low price and are not properly labeled. Even experts can only identify if the fur is synthetic by way of burning it. 次ペットを我が家に迎える時は絶対保護するって決めていて、やっとそれが叶いました 🧡 シエルは兄弟たちと一緒に保護されたものの、他のみんなはすぐ家族が見つかった中シエルだけなかなか見つからず、面会希望は多く毎日色んな人が会いにきて触ったりしようとしたのが続いたため警戒心がすごく強くて、私が面会に行ったときもずっと吠えていて、他に面会に来た人が触ろうとすると噛んでしまっている状態でした。慣れてくれるか心配でしたが早く安心できる場所をあげたいという思いで保護を決意し、我が家に来たものの、最初の2-3日は家族全員誰も触れず、カーテンの後ろに隠れたり玄関の角にずっといたり、ご飯もそこまで食べてくれなくて不安でいっぱいでした。でも少しずつ心を許してくれて今はもうすっかり甘えてくれています  まだ家族以外の人にはすごく人見知りですが、シエルは保護される前の環境の影響ですごく寂しがりやで、私たち家族にはすっごく甘えてくれているので、安心できる家だと思ってくれてるのかなと、嬉しく思っています。  前飼っていた子はまだ４ヶ月ぐらいの時にペットショップで飼ったのですが、その子は最初からすごく元気で人間も犬も大好きな子だったので、シエルを見ていると生まれ育つ環境、そして愛情をしっかり注いであげることって本当に大事だなと日々感じています。今回は @rolaofficial さんがやっている @uni_project330 からシエルを見つけて、PETS足立という保護団体から引き受けて、今日で２週間のトライアルが終わり正式に我が家の一員となりました 🐶 日本ではまだ5000軒以上のペットショップがあり、年間4万頭以上の犬猫たちが殺処分されています。新しい家族を待ってる子たちはまだまだたくさんいるので、一匹でも多くの子達が安心できる家族に出会えるように願っています 😌  ——   I had always decided that next time I have a pet I’d adopt them, and I’ve finally achieved that goal. He was rescued with his siblings but while they were able to find their new families right away he had a difficult time finding one for a while. When I went to see him for the first time he was barking the entire time and trying to bite whoever that tries to touch him, and as much as I was worried how things would go, my family decided to adopt him with a hope of giving him a safe home. For the first few days after he came to our home, he’d hide behind the curtains or stay in the corner of the room, and we weren’t able to touch him or feed him … but he slowly opened up to us and now he seems to recognize as his new family ☺️   We had bought our previous dog from a pet shop and he was such a friendly and loving dog from the start, so spending time with Ciel makes me realize once again the importance of giving a safe space for the pets and loving them unconditionally. I found Ciel through on @uni_project330 by @rolaofficial and adopted him from an organization called PETS Adachi, and today marks the end of the 2week trial so he has officially become our family 🧡 There are 5,000+ pet shops across Japan and 40,000+ dogs and cats are culled annually. Hoping that more people will choose to adopt instead of buying from a pet shop and that more dogs and cats will find their homes 🐾
