    現在正是聯合國接納台灣的時候

    第76屆聯合國大會將於9/14在美國紐約聯合國總部開議, 21-27日舉行總辯論,討論疫後復甦與永續重建等主題。

    外交部今年推案延續 #3大訴求

    🔹聯合國應立即採取行動解決2,350萬台灣人民被不當排除在聯合國體系外的情形;

    🔹聯合國不當剝奪我國人及媒體進入聯合國參訪、出席或採訪會議跟活動的權利,應立即匡正;

    🔹聯合國應確保台灣有權平等、有尊嚴參與實現「永續發展目標」(SDGs)相關會議、機制及活動,並且做出貢獻。

    外交部吳部長也直指,聯合國體系在中國施壓下,持續 #錯誤引用 聯大第2758號決議 不當排除台灣參與。台灣是國際社會的良善力量,2,350萬台灣人民的權利不應被漠視。

    As the 76th United Nations General Assembly approaches, it’s high time for #Taiwan to get a seat at the table! Given the lengths we’ve gone to in order to help other countries amid this pandemic and the expertise we have to share with our global partners, Taiwan seems ideally placed to lend some insight into this year’s theme: how to rebuild sustainably in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and revitalize the UN!

    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hopes that the UN will #SeeSense and grant our three appeals:

    🔹to take immediate action to address the unjustified exclusion of Taiwan’s 23.5 million people from the UN system;

    🔹to immediately rectify its discriminatory policy against Taiwanese passport holders;

    🔹to ensure that Taiwan is afforded the right to participate in an equal and dignified manner in meetings, mechanisms, and activities related to the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and thus make greater contributions.

    Minister Wu has also challenged the legal basis for Taiwan’s exclusion, UNGA Resolution 2758, which he says only addresses the issue of China’s representation in the UN and makes no mention of the PRC claim of sovereignty over Taiwan, nor does it grant authorization for the PRC to represent Taiwan in the UN. Only Taiwan’s democratically elected government can represent the country and its 23.5 million people.

    #UNGA76 is set to kick off at the UN headquarters starting September 14 and the General Debate will take place from September 21-27.

    Some of those riding at the front of the current exercise mechanics bandwagon glamourise things being black and white. They’re the same mouths that not long ago called certain movements “THE 5 BEST exercises” and labelled everything else as horseshit. The instagram audience and algorithms love it.
    -
    It encourages students to look to biomechanics education for definitive guidelines and protocols, like the arbitrary ones they were taught in their basic certifications.
    -
    I can see why people are drawn to exercise mechanics - it’s the reason why I took engineering at university and not a subject where someone’s opinion decided my grade. I liked the assurance of knowing there are basic laws of science and thus every mechanics question has a right & wrong answer...
    -
    ... except, while forces and angles and moment arms and lever arms and friction are all very well understood mechanics principles (well, by those who actually understand them), the application of them is in the human body which has wild variance. Yes, we are all similar from a general perspective, but humans are like models of cars being produced with a very large factor of error, and the brain operating them has a “use whatever it takes” or “do whatever is easiest” autopilot 🛩
    -
    Even if an exercise setup makes a machine say it somehow isolates the upper third distal fibres of the lateral head of muscle X by an extra 13.7% compared with when done at a 86.1 degrees, they’ve got to be dreaming if they think that has any relevance to someone else’s structure and execution, let alone that they could find me an everyday client to whom it matters.
    -
    It’s why the RTS ethos is so focused on “client-defined exercise”. The person in front of you holds all the answers to how to train them - the key is just having the knowledge to know how to interpret what they’re telling you needs working on and how to use the resistance manipulation options afforded to us by the existence of mass and gravity to help them accordingly.
    -
    Learn the sound scientific principles as deeply as possible and then embrace the fact that every time you look to apply them the circumstances will be different and they might almost feel “wrong”.

    Today is #May35th.

    Some refer to it as the anniversary of the “Political turmoil between the Spring and Summer of 1989,” perhaps as they’d rather brush it all under the carpet with vague terms.

    Others, still, refer to this date as 8 squared ( =64 or 6/4) or 444444 (6 4s = 6/4) or in other cryptic forms. Why? Simply to keep its memory alive in the PRC, one has to invent ways of circumventing the pervasive censorship online, which is intent on wiping the event from the history books.

    We should remember not just what happened, but also the demands of the young and idealistic student protesters: that every Chinese citizen be afforded #dignity, #freedom, #HumanRights and #safety, and how their calls resonated with the Chinese public of the time. As forgetting will just lead to history repeating itself, just as it did has in Hong Kong over recent years.

    The spirits and demands of the students of #Tiananmen and Hong Kong must not be erased nor forgotten, so that their legacies can live on!

    Allen Iverson stole the spotlight from Jarvis Hayes.

    Iverson stole Hayes' inbounds pass and drove for a layup with just two-tenths of a second left in overtime, giving the Philadelphia 76ers to a 116-114 victory over the Washington Wizards.

    Before his second game-winning shot this month, Iverson cut in front of Gilbert Arenas, stole the ball and beat him downcourt for the go-ahead hoop.

    "I kind of figured that they were trying to give Gilbert the ball, so they could get some kind of penetration from him," Iverson said. "It seemed like Hayes couldn't get the ball in and he (got) kind of panicky. I just stayed as close (to Arenas) as I could. Once Hayes threw it, my eyes lit up. I knew I had it."

    Despite his share of shooting difficulties after a 16-point first half, Iverson produced 28 points on 9-of-26 shooting and 13 assists without a turnover.

    "I'm happy that I didn't get any turnovers," Iverson said. "I know with the game that I play, I'm going to get turnovers. I play so aggressive. If I turn it over, so be it. I just don't want it over five turnovers a game."

    A three-time steals champion, Iverson also extended his streak to 31 straight games with a steal on the crucial final play, helping Philadelphia improve to 3-0 in overtime this season.

    "Iverson is an all-NBA player and he made an all-NBA play," said Wizards assistant Mike O'Koren, who assumed the coaching duties after coach Eddie Jordan was hospitalized for a blood clot in his left leg Thursday. "It would have been tough to get a foul unless it's really a hack. It just bad execution on our part, but he (Iverson) makes those type of plays."

    Iverson's steal and layup upstaged the clutch efforts of Hayes, who drilled a 3-pointer in traffic at the regulation horn to tie the score at 103-103.

    Marc Jackson afforded Hayes and the Wizards the chance to tie the score, missing two free throws that could have given Philadelphia a five-point margin with 9.6 seconds left in regulation.

    "It was two seconds on the clock when I got the ball," Hayes said. "I got the ball, and I knew I had time for one more dribble. I tried to jump and get squared. When I got in the air, I put it up."

    Trailing 114-111 with time winding down in overtime, the Wizards found Hayes near the top of the key and he buried another 3-pointer to pull Washington even with 26 seconds left.

    Moments later, however, Iverson stole the ball -- and the show -- from Hayes as the 76ers won their second straight game on the heels of a three-game slide.

    Kyle Korver scored a career-high 26 points and drained six 3-pointers for the 76ers, who improved to 16-4 in their last 20 meetings with the Wizards.

    Korver, who averaged 4.5 points in 74 games as a rookie last season, has scored in double figures in seven of his last eight games.

    "I am a lot more confident," Korver said. "I feel like I have improved quite a bit. Last year, I was just labeled as a shooter. That is still my strong point, but scouts can't say that I am just a shooter anymore. They have to say, 'He can drive a little bit, defend' and other things."

    Despite his two critical missed free throws, Jackson scored 21 points, including four in the extra session.

    "They picked me up," Jackson said. "I missed those two foul shots, but it is part of the game. They came with that big-time shot to force overtime. It hurts, but we had to move on."

    John Salmons, who led Philadelphia's bench with a season-high 16 points, hit a jumper from the foul line with 8:33 left in the second quarter to give the club its largest lead at 61-49.

    The Sixers remained in front until Arenas, who scored 23 points, hit a 3-pointer with 4:04 left in the fourth quarter to tie it at 93-93. Hayes scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds off the bench for Washington, which was in search of a four-game winning streak for the first time since the 2002-03 season.

    Antawn Jamison, who scored 27 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, was one of three Wizards with a double-double. Former 76er Larry Hughes scored 12 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter and added 12 rebounds nine assists.

    Jordan, who is expected to remain hospitalized for the next few days, is also slated to miss Sunday's game at Toronto before returning to the Wizards' bench Monday against New Jersey.

    "I spoke to Eddie this morning and he's doing a lot better," O'Koren said. "He's coming along. It's going to take some time for him to get rid of this thing."
