    你認為，翻譯有標準答案嗎？

    昨晚基礎翻譯班的最後一堂課
    我分享了知名學者 Peter Newmark 的一段話
    和同學互相勉勵：

    There is no such thing as a perfect, ideal, or "correct" translation.
    完美、理想或「正確」的翻譯並不存在
    A translator is always trying to extend his knowledge and improve his means of expression;
    譯者隨時都在努力擴大認知範圍、精進自己的表達方式
    he is always pursuing facts and words.
    *他們總在追尋文字與真相。
    *為 gender neutral，譯成複數

    做了十年以上的翻譯
    比起尋找「標準答案」
    我更覺得翻譯是一種「嘗試接近的藝術」

    每一次的翻譯都得有所取捨
    因為中英文字、句構、文化上的差異
    要「完美翻譯」幾乎是不可能的事

    💡舉個例子：「一兼二顧，摸蜊仔兼洗褲」

    如果譯成
    Killing two birds with one stone.（一石二鳥）
    語意上可能八九不離十
    但整個畫面和語感就完全不同了

    如果譯成
    You can wash your pants and catch clams at the same time!
    （洗褲子的同時還可以抓蛤蜊）
    外國人可能會疑惑：Why catch clams?
    覺得兩件事兜不起來

    或許也是因為翻譯很難有「標準答案」
    才會這麼耐人尋味
    讓喜愛文字的人不斷地追尋

    疫情期間還是得去上班，特別到科技大樓、大安捷運站，漫長的手扶梯，都讓我在想「啊！要不要抓一下扶手；抓了，怕有病毒；不抓扶手又覺得好陡，怕不小心到頭栽」。

    TOUCH Architect 在去年疫情時，受到泰國空間雜誌 art4d 邀請，提出「自動消毒殺菌手扶梯——W·U·P」的概念設計，就是要解決漫長手扶梯，這「抓與不抓」扶手的疫情乘客困境。

    ❍ W·U·P（วับ） ❍
    ﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋
    結合 (hand-)Wash - UVC - Path 的三大特色，以 WUP（วับ） 為名，泰文的意思是「亮晶晶」，中文則呈現清潔溜溜的意象（有夠可愛）。

    ❶ Hand-Wash
    在泰國一般手扶梯長度為 10-15 公尺、移動速度為 0.5 公尺／秒。在扶手下方處嵌入自動酒精噴霧消毒機，讓乘客在搭手扶梯的 20 秒內，隨時可以酒精消毒手部、身心保障！

    ❷ UV-C
    手扶梯運輸帶傳動到機體下方時，可以透過 UV-C 照射除菌。

    ❸ Single-Path
    縮短手扶梯的寬度，維持單人能夠雙手扶著扶手站立的距離。

    材料：
    桂花魚 ... 1條
    鹹酸菜 ... 150克
    芽菜 ... 50克
    白蘿蔔 ... 60克
    野山椒 ... 10克
    紅辣椒 ... 1條
    薑片 ... 10克
    芫荽 ... 10克
    蔥花 ... 10克

    醃料：
    鹽 ... 1茶匙
    胡椒粉 ... 1茶匙
    啤酒 ... 20ml
    生粉 ... 2茶匙
    蛋白 ... 少量

    調味料：
    鹽 ... 1茶匙
    糖 ... 1茶匙
    胡椒粉 ... 1茶匙
    醋 ... 1茶匙
    魚露 ... 1茶匙

    食譜:
    第一步 起魚片，切鹹酸菜
    第二步 將魚骨和魚片各自用啤酒和清水均勻地攪拌，攪拌乾淨後撈出 備用
    第三步 魚片加入醃料，攪拌，待完全吸收備用
    第四步 起鑊，開滾水，烚鹹酸菜約一分鐘，隔水備用
    第五步 落油，炒芽菜，備用
    第六步 落油、薑，把魚頭、魚骨煎至金黃色
    第七步 把酸菜落鑊炒香，直至開始乾身微焦，然後落油爆香其他菜料
    第八步 加熱水，大火滾起後，加入魚頭，然後調至中火煲3分鐘，芽菜放在碗底
    第九步 魚湯加入魚露、糖、胡椒粉、醋調味，煮好之後把所有材料撈起，放入鍋中
    第十步 將魚湯收細火，加入魚片滾15秒，撈出放入碗中，把魚片慢慢推散，使其平均受熱

    貼士:
    -魚骨煎至兩邊金黃 湯才會奶白入味
    -野山椒是酸菜魚辣味的靈魂
    -啤酒洗魚片有去潺和殺菌作用
    -「起雙飛」砌法有助令魚片更加吸收精華

    Ingredients:
    Chinese perch ... 1pc
    Pickled cabbage ... 150g
    Mung bean sprouts ... 50g
    White radish ... 60g
    Wild chili pepper ... 10g
    Red chili pepper ... 1pc
    Ginger slices ... 10g
    Coriander ... 10g
    Scallion ... 10g

    Marinade:
    Salt ... 1tsp
    White pepper ... 1tsp
    Beer ... 20ml
    Corn starch ... 2tsp
    Egg white ... a little

    Sauce:
    Salt ... 1tsp
    Sugar ... 1tsp
    White pepper ... 1tsp
    Black vinegar ... 1tsp
    Fish sauce ... 1tsp

    Recipe:
    STEP 1 Cut the fish fillet,Cut the pickled cabbage
    STEP 2 Wash the fish fillets and the fish bones with beer and water,Rinse well and set aside
    STEP 3 Add marinade to the fish fillets and mix well,Set aside
    STEP 4 Boil a pot of water,Cook pickled cabbage for one minute,Drain and set aside
    STEP 5 Add oil and stir-fry the bean sprouts
    STEP 6 Add oil and ginger,Cook fish head and fish bones until golden
    STEP 7 Stir-fry the pickled cabbage,Until dry and crisp,Add oil to cook the vegetables
    STEP 8 Pour in hot water and bring to a boil,Add the fish head,Simmer on medium heat for 3 minutes,Put bean sprouts at the bottom of the pot
    STEP 9 Add fish sauce, sugar, white pepper and black vinegar to the broth,Put all the ingredients into the pot
    STEP 10 Cook the fish fillets on low heat for 15 seconds,Disperse and cook evenly,Add to the pot

    TIPS:
    -Cook fish bones until golden for a milky white fish broth
    -Wild chili pepper is the essence of the dish's hotness
    -Wash the fish fillets with beer to remove slime and sterilize
    -“Butterflying" makes fish fillets absorb flavour easier

    1990年，「同性戀」已經被世界衛生組織移除疾病範疇，「同性戀不是病」已是醫學界的共識。

    同性戀傾向。或稱同性愛、同性吸引等。女同性戀(Lesbian)、男同性戀(Gay)及跨性別女同性戀(Transles)、跨性別男同性戀(Transgay)為性取向的種類，是相同社會性別/心理性別(Gender)之間的個體產生愛慕、情感、性吸引及性行為吸引的現象。

    現代科學研究顯示，各種少數性傾向(男同性性傾向、女同性性傾向、雙性性傾向)和精神病理不存在任何內在聯繫，故同性戀不是一種精神疾病或心理障礙，只是一種不同於大多數人，特殊的性傾向。其實同性戀和是異性戀一樣存在，所以按照自然社會定理同性戀是一種普通的性傾向。

    由於世界各國文化、宗教的差異，導致世界各國至今對同性戀人群還存有爭議。中世紀的歐洲，受天主教的影響，民眾遵從教會定義，認為同性戀違反神意是犯罪的。古代的中國，「孌童始於黃帝」，「男風」在歷朝歷代時常盛行，作為占據主導地位的儒家思想，對同性戀多持的中庸的態度。只是從倫理道德方面發表看法。相對於中世紀歐洲的嚴苛，直接用文字和法律規定殘殺同性戀來說，中國古代社會更加寬容，儒家也對同性戀問題只做泛指性教導，孔孟亦未曾對普通同性戀表明過徹底否定的觀點。如《論語·陽貨》中的「巧言令色，鮮兮仁」，《論語·季氏》中「損者三友。友便辟、友善柔、友便佞，損矣」，《孟子·盡心下》中「惡佞，恐其亂義也」在非洲和亞洲西部、南部的一些發展中國家，同性戀仍被視作一種違法行為，有的國家甚至將同性戀者處以極刑。隨著時代的進步，現代人普遍認為，同性戀是一種正常的性傾向，中國對同性戀人群的看法較為保守，將同性戀非刑事化、非病理化，但不承認同性伴侶任何關係。不可否認的是，現今，雖然歐洲許多國家(包括法國、西班牙等天主教傳統國家)同性婚姻已經完全合法。但同性戀被人們唾棄以及排斥，則必然是歷史發展的必然趨勢。
