你上次讀英文詩是什麼時候呢？
學英文卻不讀英文詩，是很可惜的事

許多同學一聽到「詩」
第一印象就是晦澀難懂，因而敬而遠之
但其實在英文詩的世界裡
平易近人的作品並不少

著名詩人如艾蜜莉・狄金森（Emily Dickinson）
或葉慈（W. B. Yeats）的多數作品
使用的單字都不會太難

推薦給 #想讀英詩學英文 的朋友
在閱讀英文詩的過程中
我們可以特別注意三個重點：
1. 字詞的挑選和運用
2. 字義和音律的結合（sound and sense）
3. 摹寫技巧和畫面感的建立

今天想和大家分享
「美國自由詩之父」惠特曼
（Walt Whitman）的一首詩

惠特曼早年家貧
念完小學即輟學打工貼補家用
對社會現實及人情冷暖觀察入微
他的寫實段落真摯、文字精準而自然

以下是我非常喜歡的作品
A Glimpse（驚鴻一瞥）
和我的中文翻譯：

A glimpse through an interstice caught,
我穿過隙縫驚鴻一瞥

Of a crowd of workmen and drivers in a bar-room around the stove late of a winter night, and I unremark’d seated in a corner,
瞥見工人車伕攢聚酒吧小間
圍著爐火在暮冬夜裡
我坐在角落一言不發

Of a youth who loves me and whom I love, silently approaching and seating himself near, that he may hold me by the hand,
瞥見那傾慕我我也傾慕的少年
默默走近，在我身畔坐了下來
也許他會牽起我的手

A long while amid the noises of coming and going, of drinking and oath and smutty jest,
許久，在人來人往的鼎沸
酒杯鏗鏘的嬉鬧和誑言中

There we two, content, happy in being together, speaking little, perhaps not a word.
我倆因著彼此而歡欣
忘了隻字片語

所以小孩玩具收光光
也是一種變相鼓勵他們讀書😂😂
結果他們最愛讀的書是台灣地圖繪本
我仔細一問，原來N跟招妹邊讀邊討論下次去台灣要吃什麼
每天畫餅充飢很開心😂😂

我自己則是很常讀「被欺負」還有「我很厲害」這兩本給招妹🙌🏻🙌🏻
「被欺負」那本我很喜歡，因為現在校園霸凌真的是很常見的問題💥💥
我不覺得被欺負後避開或是軟弱會有效解決霸凌
同樣的，直接打回去也不好
所以這本書會用一種保護自己為出發點
但不會造成孩子過度暴力或是過度軟弱
我很喜歡！🥰🥰

▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️

💡而「我很厲害」那本則是因為我在對於教孩子要有自信的同時總是擔心他們會驕傲！
很多父母保持著謙虛心態造成孩子自卑沒自信，
孩子長大後往往妄自菲薄，
但過度讚美也怕養出個大白目😂😂
所以這本就有讓我們作家長的比較能抓到中間的路線來讓孩子理解他們很棒😇😇
但不需要驕傲，別人也有其他棒的地方！👏🏻👏🏻

Cooking fried rice in a rice cooker is a game-changer for many because this means you neither have to cook rice way in advance nor wash multiple pots. Super awesome and convenient in my opinion.
You can also use multi cooker or instant pot to make this dish too. Try it.

Ingredients:
Serves 3 - 4 pax

5 cloves of chopped garlic
2 cups of uncooked rice
2 cups of chicken stock
150g of prawns
3 small eggs
2 tablespoons of light soy sauce
A few dashes of white pepper
1 teaspoon of salt
4 stalks of chopped spring onion

FYI

If you don't have a rice cup, 1 rice cup has 142ml of water and 1 rice cup has 150g of rice.
If you don't have chicken stock on hand, use 1 chicken bouillon cube with 284ml (2 rice cups) of water.
If you are using concentrated chicken stock, use 2 teaspoons of it with 284ml (2 rice cups) of water.
