[演講技巧] 用對的語言，說給對的人聽：看蕭美琴的 ALEC 演講

Presentality再次幫同學分享政治人物演講技巧。這次Andrew Yang 分析的對象是現任駐美代表蕭美琴 (Ambassador Bi-khim Hsiao)!

這幾天看到網路上很多人稱讚蕭美琴在美國給的一場演講，是在 American Legislative Exchange Council 大會給的。Youtube 上還有完整的影片。

我就想要從一個英文撰稿人跟演講教練的角度，看一下她到底是哪裡講的好？

📌 連開頭都跟傳統台灣官員不一樣

她一開頭，就用一種很 personal 的方式回應主辦單位的介紹：

Thank you Karen for that kind introduction…

畢竟用人家的 first name，就感覺比較親切對不對？通常外交場合，都是用 last name 的。

📌 而且她跟台灣大部分官員用英文演講的時候有一個很不一樣的地方：

她講話的時候，是看著聽眾的 lol。

你可能會覺得搞啥啊，講話不是就要看著對方嗎？但其實很多台灣官員可能是語文能力關係，或是沒時間把稿子弄熟，演講的時候大部分的時間是盯著稿子的，所以跟聽眾的 connection 真的就會打折扣。

📌 另外一個小細節，就是她的節奏。

台灣很多官員不只是唸稿，還唸的斷斷續續，不停的卡住，蕭美琴就不一樣，講的算是非常流暢，尤其到後半段整個進入一個很好的 flow。

大家可能會覺得這只是英文好，但其實不完全是。我們也看過很多英文比蕭大使還要好的人，演講超級卡。

📌 講「對的字」，給對的聽眾

第二個細節，就是她的用字遣詞。

我們注意這裡：

I’m so honored to be able to be here in person, to use this occasion to express my gratitude… to the so many outstanding freedom-loving legislators around the United States.

還有這裡，講到主辦單位 ALEC 頒獎給蔡總統，她說：

It is also recognition for the freedom-loving people of Taiwan, and our determination to keep Taiwan free.

我們要指出的共通點在哪裡？

對，就是 “Freedom-loving”。

我在美國住十幾年，從大學到研究所到華府工作，周圍的朋友大多都是左派的，我不記得他們之中有任何人，任何一次，說過 “freedom-loving” 或甚至強調 freedom。這代表蕭大使真的很會對「對的人」說「對的話」。

她知道這群聽眾是美國保守派的，「自由」對他們來說是絕對的價值跟原則。所以一說完這段，就迎來熱烈的掌聲。

我猜今天如果蕭大使對的是左派的聽眾，她肯定不會一直提到這些字眼。

她也不忘用 “side-by-side” 的語法，來強調台灣跟美國的價值。很多台灣官員都只會制式的重複：We share with you the values of freedom and democracy, blah blah blah…

但蕭大使就做一點變化：

I often say that you are living in the land of the free.

We are living on the island of the free.

Good line，又迎來一些掌聲。

*Btw, 為什麼是 “land of the free” 而不是 land of free 或是 free land？因為自由的不是土地，而是「人」，所以美國人才會說 “we are a free people”。所以 “the free” 代表的其實是「自由的人」。

📌 掌控敘事 (Narrative)

我們再來看一段非常不錯的：

We also believe that it is only in societies that respect the freedom of speech, where true innovation can propel technology that advances human progress, instead of technology that is abused and used for surveillance and controlling their people.

美國時常有很多的辯論：我們應該要把什麼項目放在第一？科技進步？經濟成長？還是民主價值？

我在美國唸外交時，幫我們上課的前官員也會說：「我們先不要硬推民主，而是先幫助這些國家經濟成長，之後他們自然就會變成民主國家。」

蕭美琴的這段，就是一個反向的論述：如果沒有言論自由，就不會有真正的創新，因為科技會被用來控制人民，而不是真的改善大家的生活。

這就是敘事 (narrative) 的重點：不是只是提供一大堆 information 給大家 (this is what most people do)，而是告訴大家要怎麼去「詮釋」這些資訊 (跟我們時常在說的 “framing” 有關)。

絕大部分台灣官員出去演講的時候，是完全沒有核心論述的，就只有提供一堆人家沒興趣也永遠不會記得的 information。

引用對方可以體會的經歷

講完一些硬一點的議題之後，她把話題帶到比較個人的層面：

I’m an ambassador now, I work in Washington, DC, but I used to be like you, I came from a legislature in Taiwan, I understand that all politics are local. And when we go back to our constituents, we wanna deliver on economic progress, we wanna deliver on the common values that we share.

說到個人經歷，突然感覺比較輕鬆，溫和對不對？這是一種非常好跟聽眾建立連結的方式，畢竟不是每一位外交官，都有跟聽眾同樣的經歷，所以她很會利用自己的強項。

但她這麼說，可是有目的：把聽眾的注意力帶到 “economic progress for constituents” 之後，她馬上用大家可以理解的數字，提醒聽眾台灣對美國「地方經濟」的重要性：

We’re in the State of Utah now, [Taiwan’s] size is only 15% the size of Utah, but we are the 8th largest consumer of US agricultural products in the world.

然後還不忘轉換成人均的數字！

Which means, per capita wise, each Taiwanese citizen is the second largest consumer — per capita wise — the second largest consumer of American agricultural products.

蠻厲害的對不對？但這樣還沒有結束喔！

翻轉視界 18 Changing Perspective

There's not just one road to the destination, but many roads. You just need to take the little step that’s right in front of you, and then the next one, and a few years down the track, they will seem like massive achievements.

通往目的地的路不止一條，有很多路可走。你只需要邁出眼前這一小步，然後再邁出下一步，幾年下來，將會成為巨大成就。

I didn’t meet my father until I was 6 years old. My parents had a comfortable, middle-class life in Shanghai, or as close as you could get under communism. But they always wanted to live overseas, and just before I was born, my dad came to Sydney to set things up. I don’t know why, but in the end, my mother and I didn’t join him until I was 6.

I ended up having to move school 3 times before I came to Balwyn Primary School, which was relatively multicultural.

I had started learning the violin from the age of 2.5 years old and even with all the troubles that were going on in my life, had somehow still kept up with it. 【德多少，就得多少】
YOUR VIRTUES DETERMINE HOW MUCH YOU GET

最近家附近有建築工地，噪音多了。

客人聽我的聲音不會有問題，因為我的耳機有麥克風，但如果他們不戴有麥克風的耳機，我聽他們的聲音會比較辛苦。

幾天前，為一位年輕的保險經紀通過Zoom批八字。

他進入Zoom會議室後，呆看著我。

我微笑看著他，故意不出聲，觀察著他。

幾秒後，他才粗魯的說：「哈囉？!」

奇怪了，貴為一個保險經紀，見人應該無數，打招呼的方式，怎能這麼粗俗？我阿姨阿伯級的客人，雖不常用Zoom，都比他懂禮貌。

我馬上回：「X先生，您好。您進來會議室，怎麼打招呼這麼粗俗？」

「我一向來都是這樣先哈囉，有聲音我才正式打招呼。」

「我倒是從來不會這樣。」

其實，這是個人修養的問題。

「你沒有讀我發給你的貼文嗎？為何你視訊沒有戴耳機？」

「我一向來Zoom都是這樣，沒有戴耳機。我以為你只是建議而已，不一定要戴。」

「我在貼文裡寫關於戴耳機的理由，你覺得不成立嗎？」

他想了幾秒，回：「是成立的。」

「我們都是提供服務的人。客人找我們，需要三大元素。第一個，就是同理心。你沒有同理心，難怪你說你的客人寧願聽別人說，也不信你說。」

「如果你要我戴，我現在就戴。」

他講完後，依然坐在那裡看著我，一動也不動。

後來，我說了幾句，他肯戴上耳機後，藍牙耳機也並沒操作好。

等了我一個月，這麼簡單的事情都不願事先做好。

看著他理直氣壯的模樣，頓時覺得他很可憐。

貴人坐在他面前，他說的一大堆話，都是以「自我」為出發點，完全不懂得「以和為貴」的道理。這不就是親手把貴人轟出門嗎？

「你這樣講話，就算講贏了，你真的贏了嗎？」

換成我是他的客人，我絕不會向他買保險，因為很明顯這不是一位真心為別人著想的保險經紀人。

那天，雖為他看八字，該說的我都有說，但我依然保留許多。

因為他缺德。

許多人把「德」看得很輕，覺得沒做壞事就是好人。事實上，不按照別人合理的要求做事，蓄意破壞規則，只顧自己，也是沒有德行可言。

有些人會吐槽，哎呀你學佛的人，要慈悲，何必跟他計較？不要著相！

我不是在意氣用事。

沒有智慧的慈悲，會害死人的。

祖師有訓 - 看命本來就是依客人的福德多寡，而賜福。品行不端的人，承受不起更多的福報，反而會遭反噬。再說了，對貴人都不好的人，對沒有利用價值的人就會更善良嗎？

不是捐錢的，就一定是好人，什麼事情都是要用心才算。

每個人都想要與眾不同，可是如果你的所作所為和一般人一樣，沒有比他們做得更好，那你的命格只配拿得起一般的命運。

不要迷信，以為什麼都是人家為難你，就跑去求神拜佛要打小人。我們命運裡的每一個障礙，每一粒石頭，都是自己放進去的。

你不改，障礙物就不會移。

在這裡聲明：沒有麥克風耳機的Zoom客人，我一概會取消諮詢，進行退款，沒得商量，沒得瞎掰。

能突然放假，真是太過癮了！

Recently, a construction site sprouted up beside my place, creating a lot of noise every day.

Zoom clients wouldn’t have a problem hearing me, but if they do not have a earpiece with a mic, I would have a problem hearing them.

Few days ago, I did a Bazi analysis for a young Insurance Agent via Zoom.

After he entered my Zoom meeting room, he looked at me blankly.

I smiled at him, deliberately staying quiet, and observed him.

Few seconds later, he said bluntly, “Hello?!”

How strange that an insurance agent, who probably have met tons of people, would greet in such an abrupt manner. My middle-aged clients, who rarely use Zoom, have better etiquette than him.

I replied instantly, “Hi, Mr X. Why is your greeting so crude, upon entering this meeting room?”

“I always say hello like this and wait to hear a reply, before I greet officially.”

“I never do that.”

Actually, this demonstrates the refinement of a person.

“Did you not read the post I sent you? Why are you not wearing a earpiece?”

“All along, I do Zooms in this manner without a earpiece. I thought it’s just a suggestion from you and it was not mandatory.”

“I wrote about the reason for clients to wear a earpiece. Do you find it invalid?”

He pondered for a few seconds and replied, “It’s valid.”

“We are both service providers. Clients look for us based on three main qualities. The first being the quality of empathy. You lack empathy and it’s no wonder you say your clients rather listen to others and not trust you as much.”

“If you want me to wear, then I will wear it now”

And he sat there looking at me, not moving an inch.

When he finally put on his ear pods, they did not operate well either.

It’s peculiar how despite a month of waiting for me, he was slow to get this simple thing done right.

Seeing how “self-assured” he was, for a brief moment, I find his behaviour pitiful.

His benefactor was sitting right in front of him, yet his words remained self-serving, totally oblivious to what harmony is about. Wasn’t this sending your benefactor straight out of the door?

“Even if you gain an upper hand talking like this, have you really won?

I would never buy insurance from such an agent, as obviously he was not the considerate kind.

I still read his Bazi that day, said what I should but there were also a lot I did not reveal.

Because he is lacking in virtues.

Many people think lightly of virtues. They assumed that if they do no evil deed, they are virtuous humans. Fact is, if you do not follow the reasonable requirements of other people, deliberately breaking the rules for your own gain, you have no virtue to speak of.

Some naysayers will tell me, but hey you are a practicing Buddhist, so you should exercise your compassion and not be bothered with his behaviour! Don’t get attached to external form!

This isn’t about me.

Compassion without wisdom brings more harm than good.

Since ancient times, it is a rule of thumb that we practitioners allocate good fortune to clients, based on their conduct and luck.

A person with undesirable conduct is unable to bear greater fortune, or there will be adverse consequences. Moreover, if a person is unkind to his benefactor, it is very unlikely that he will be kinder to another person with no value to him.

You can’t define a person as a good man, just because he is willing to donate money. We got to look at how he uses his heart.

Everybody wants to be special and different from others. But if what you are doing is the same as other people, nowhere better than them, then you can only carry a mediocre Destiny.

Don’t be superstitious to think that everybody is out to get you, and you go running to the temples or Feng Shui masters to chase away the villains.

Every obstacle in our destiny, every little stone that trips us, is placed in our lives by no other person but ourselves.

If you do not change, the obstacle isn’t going to budge either.

呢條影片係會講下隨著UA Cinemas全線結業， 田啟文擔心影響外國投資者嚟香港，那邊廂 ，又有人靜靜起革命，喺度創造出「影視新霸權」，正所謂一雞死一雞鳴，有危就有機，香港人從來都懂得英雄造時勢。



UA Cinemas（娛藝院線）今日宣佈全線結業，啟動清盤程序，遣散逾百員工，昨晚起開始停售戲票。UA陪伴港人36年，為香港影業創不少先河，包括首間引入「口述影像」上映的《逆流大叔》，可讓視障人士使用專用接收器，聽口述影像欣賞電影，打破電影界限，早年UA亦是首間於2007年引進IMAX巨幕技術，再次吸引戲迷進場支持。

受疫情影響收入，電影業界擔心UA Cinemas結業會引起「骨牌效應」，田啟文今早接受電台訪問表示：「好震驚，UA係龍頭院線，提升港人選戲嘅選擇，佢喺暑假排片都係第一手外語片，此消彼長，排得咁好，變咗華語片比較失色，但對觀眾係好事，因為同外國同步，有時嗰邊都未做，反而香港上映先。」

田啟文稱疫情下排戲院座位只可排一半，經營百上加斤，聽聞之前UA想賣盤，不過因為UA旗下七間戲院均位於黃金地段，惟市況欠佳，未有「白武士」出手，最終只賣出一間，「佢哋一直想賣盤等有心人去經營，但係而家都頂唔順，電影一直難做，市場萎縮，租金人工上漲」。田啟文指身為業界人士，最擔心驚影響投資者來香港，「咁大間龍頭院線都頂唔順，咁即係冇得做啦，咁就唔喺香港投資拍電影」。

如果要話外國人唔嚟香港投資拍電影，不如思考下全球電影生態嘅轉變，以致日後香港電影嘅生存之道，如今娛樂事業嘅大趨勢就係科技！串流媒体！同埋原创！

网上播放電影、電視將會係未来的趋势，自從第75屆威尼斯影展上，Netflix出產兼發行的《羅馬》不但首度進入國際影展，還贏得最高榮譽的金獅獎。當年，Netflix的參展作品多達六部，也引起關注乃至爭議。

因為獎項的背後還帶出另一個信息：隨着Netflix效應雪球愈滾愈大，「擁有龐大資源」的串流平台的推廣, 令傳統電影業陷入困境，早喺幾年前，外國已經開始借助互聯網，稱霸歐美電影市場，而這「稱霸」的背後又給世界帶來什麼影響？

由於近年網上短片興起，網絡平台亦成為藝人宣傳的主要渠道之一，Cool Style將與各地多個網絡及多個渠道進行線上視頻平台合作，積極打入短視頻及電商行業，將傳統娛樂模式與新經濟互相融合，助香港藝人進入短視頻新興行業發展。

Angelababy成為策略性股東，她表示期待更多的新人和新作品，而剛才提到嗰位經理人Kim Chou就係喺行內被稱為 「煉金術師」入行二十多年，「造星」無數，一手發掘兼捧紅Angelababy（楊穎）、熊黛林、水原希子等當紅明星。本身係台灣模特兒 ，加咗嚟香港嘅Kim, ○七年自立門戶，開設模特兒公司。

她揚言，做模特兒不能只有一個靚字。佢對啲發掘新人甚有心得，佢話「做Model，外表同內在一樣咁重要！所謂相由心生，一定要有內涵，最怕啲人得個靚字，我寧願你個樣麻麻，但識得音樂玩運動，味道都唔同啲。如果性格差，又無內涵，屢勸不改嘅話，再靚都無用，咁咪bye bye囉！」就喺angelababy 14歲未沽牙嘅時候，Kim覺得angelababy當時眼神同表情好有自信，好吸引我，見到佢真人後同張相根本無分別，已經好想同佢合作，但我第一句同佢講嘅係：『你要箍牙喎！』」呢啲先至真正叫做大師 , 難怪咁多個超級巨星都係畀佢一手發掘嘅 。

所以行內除咗英皇嘅many發掘容祖兒出嚟之後 ，大家應該日後會聽多啲呀Kim名㗎喇

馮德倫喺2019年都拍咗netflix嘅《五行刺客》, 亦都好開心與兩間公司合作，並希望日後能幫忙提升短片的質素，打造出有國際視野的本土作品。

我睇到Coolstyle呢一間公司 , 有林建岳強大嘅資金 ，有財力，古天樂香港幕前幕後嘅人員 ，有魅力，Angelababy內地有呀名氣 ，Kim一手發掘巨聲嘅有能力，馮德倫有拍荷里活電影嘅有經驗,外國嘅月光唔係一定係圓嘅 ，但係取長補短 ，馮德倫可以將外國點樣尊重創作同埋劇本呢一樣嘢就已經係 香港影視界要學習嘅地方呀 。我覺得呢一間公司, 有野心去創造全球華人嘅中文版netflix,

「香港電影有本身特色，.....................工業，你見到每個國家都有本身電影，例如馬來西亞、新加坡，即使以前好少有電影出品，但依家都會有，變相令外地觀眾更挑剔，唔係因為我哋拍得唔好，而係佢哋選擇多咗。..........................，你見到有台灣、日本同韓國電影，甚至伊朗同印度電影都有。唔單止係我，其他發行人只要覺得係好電影，就會買返嚟上映。

佢更加講當然唔係每套電影都賺錢，但最緊要係賺多蝕少，就已經無問題，唔可以每套電影都蝕錢。我諗係有個熱誠，如果真係當一盤生意去做，就可能會睇錯，真係要愛嗰件事，鍾意呢套電影，諗法要更純粹，本身真係鍾意，覺得應該帶呢套電影俾觀眾，咁樣就比較容易，

.......................！我哋識目以待 。

要數UA旗下最受歡迎的戲院，相信是旺角朗豪坊及尖沙咀iSQUARE，前者於2004年開業，當年斥資4,000萬大手筆裝修，該址人流極旺，加上座位又較舒適，人氣超越位於西洋菜街的旺角百老匯戲院。至於後者為香港第二間IMAX戲院，首家IMAX戲院亦屬於UA旗下，為九龍灣的UA MegaBox。由當年《阿凡達》（Avatar）、《蝙蝠俠—黑夜之神》（The Dark Knight）到近兩年的《復仇者聯盟3：無限之戰》（Avengers: Infinity War）及《復仇者聯盟4：終局之戰》（Avengers: Endgame），臨上映前都會出現影迷到IMAX戲院撲飛的畫面。

某些UA戲院對於市民來說是地標一樣的存在，例如UA時代廣場是很多情侶的拍拖勝地，該址曾於2012年1月結業，最後一日營業時每場戲的票價只需18元，大批影迷前去捧場懷念一番，甚至有人在時代廣場外舉行燭光集會「悼念」。翌年UA在時代廣場重開戲院，並改以全新院線品牌「CINE TIMES」。

踏入2010年代中期，多間UA戲院陸續轉手或關閉，連人氣最高的UA朗豪坊亦轉手給天馬娛樂旗下的Cinema City戲院，往後皇室戲院、UA東薈城、UA太古城中心、UA沙田，到近兩年UA iSQUARE與機場UA都陸續易手或結業，連開業不到兩年、位於尖沙咀K11 Musea的K11 Art House戲院亦於今年1月被收購。這樣看來，UA院線的終結早在幾年前已有迹可尋，捱得過盜版猖獗的年代，但敵不過天價租金，而去年新冠肺炎疫情政府兩度要求關閉戲院就成為致命一擊。

喱騷【黃秋生大師班】是在做什麼啊?!
喱騷【黃秋生大師班】到底在拍什麼?

最近我在看杜汶澤喱騷 youtube 的預告片. 集中推薦的節目是 ‘黃秋生大師班’ 其實我對這個節目非常有興趣，但是如果要收看這個節目，你需要先成為 ‘喱騷’ 網站的會員，因此，我加入會員一個月了。check it out !!

節目中黃秋生是6位新晉演員的戲劇老師。 咁呢一班演員佢地嘅經驗都不同啦，有啲就做過電影，有啲就做過舞台劇，／每個演員的表演經驗和表演媒介都各不相同，無論是電影還是舞台。

就像標準的真人秀一樣，每個角色都有一個定位。
當然有黃秋生飾演一個粗口橫飛的老師，好直接的，他經常挖苦自己的學生，他跟監制田蕊妮的之間的互動，真心係整個節目的最好看的部份。


其他角色還有:

女藝人莊韻澄，她每一次出現大家都會有一些性暗示的笑話或者會提及她的胸部。

飾演男神的王宗堯, 每一次都有關於政治的戲劇性話題出來。

看完十一集當中我最喜歡看的角色，設定，是莫俊名。 就是一個＂弱者＂，整個故事，可以說是裏面六個人當中演戲比較差的一位，就慢慢看着他做一些尷尬的表演，然後被人批評。再被迫做更尷尬的表演，例如跳舞，再被人批評，可以見到他是淚灑當場，哭了無數次、崩潰了無數次。

我不確定這是不是節目效果，還是真人都是這樣，但其實呢，在我2018年的時候，有一段時間是住在香港，參加表演課。 這是一個為藝術家和模特製作的課程

那是在我被YouTube稱為“暗網仔”之前，那裡的每個人都只是個小孩子。

練習不僅與黃秋生大師班的練習非常相似，而且我的角色與莫春明的練習非常相似。
Not only were the excercises very similar to the ones shown in 黃秋生大師班, but my character was so similar to the one of mok chun ming.

在節目中，他的個性不敢表現出自己的真實自我，但對我而言，這是在所有“成名”人物面前並且必須採取行動。 以及缺乏經驗，因為那裡的其他所有人都已經學習過課程。
In the show his personality is afraid to show his true self, but for me it was being in front of all those ‘famous’ people and having to act. And inexperience as well since everyone else there has already taken a course.


我記得，即使我在一個場景中走路也很糟糕，以至於我的老師讓我在教室裡轉圈，讓所有人觀看，因為我什至都不知道如何走進一個場景。 每個人都必須判斷我的行走。
I remember even my walking in a scene was so bad that my teacher made me walk in circles around the classroom and have everyone watch because I didn’t even know how to walk into a scene. And everyone had to judge my walking.

真的很尷尬。
It was embarrassing.

而且黃秋生大師班的每個情節流程都類似於表演班。
6個學生中的每一個都做一個同一個表演，然後老師嘲笑/批評/幫助他們。
And 黃秋生大師班’s each episodes流程is similar to a acting class.
Each of the 6 students do the 同一個performance then the teacher mocks/critiques/helps them.

我覺得這個表演是一個非常聰明的主意，因為來自參加過很多表演課的人，很多時候錄製在視頻上的實際表演並不像課堂練習中最原始，最真實的表演那樣令人興奮。
I feel this show is a very smart idea because coming from someone who has taken quite a few acting classes, many times actual performances recorded on video is not as 精彩as the raw, 最真performances done in 課堂練習.

因此，要把這些“嘿中嘿”放到一個節目中，就可以看到大多數其他節目所沒有的人性化。 因為在電視節目和電影中，不良行為不會受到批評，而在表演課中，您的想法或精力的變化會立即被接受。 因此，在每個級別上都是有關“ hey中hey”的真人節目。
So to take these ‘hey 中hey’ and make it into a show shows a 人性化that most other shows don’t have. Because in tv shows and movies bad acting will not be criticized but in acting class, a change of your thought or energy(氣場) is picked up on immediately. So on every level this is 有關 ‘hey中hey’ 的真人show.

目前只有11集，但還沒有結束，但我希望以後大家都能看到進步。
It’s only 11 episodes right now and not the end yet I look forward to seeing everyone’s improvement afterwards....
