By tasting both Pio Cesare’s Barolo and Barbera d’Alba while watching @carrielynstrong chat with @fedeboffa on @sommation_live today, brought back my memory of being at @vinitalyofficial wine fair in Verona two years ago.
I met with Augusto Boffa at VinItaly. He kindly guided me through the lineup showcased in the fair. I was moved by his passion and pride for the family business as well as the wine they produced. It was truly an unforgettable experience for me.
Pio Cesare, the celebrated Piemont producer, is turning 140 year-old this year. Since Cesare Pio established the estate in 1881, the 5-generation winemaking family, now led by Boffa family, has always sticked to “Poi Cesare family style”: dedicate to the terroir of the Piedmont and continue to produce wine that fully expresses the distinctiveness of the fruits and the vineyards.
The Barbera d’Alba and Barolo give a perfect glimpse of what Pio Cesare can offer if you are new to this producer.
As for the 2018 Barbera d’Alba, the grapes are sourced from Barolo, Barbaresco, Langhe, Diano d’Alba and Monforte d’Alba. The aim of making this Barbera is to stand along with any Barolo or Barbaresco. It’s a Barbera can be enjoy while it’s young and with longevity.
Don’t call Pio Cesare’s Barolo a regular Barolo. By combining Nebbiolo grapes coming from 5 different sites in the Barolo region, the goal here is to embrace and express the beauty of the Barolo region as one.
Nowadays we look for uniqueness, originality and particularity in wine as well as in our society, but lots of times we overlook and forget the gracefulness of unity. Thanks Pio Cesare, this 2016 Barolo makes me think twice about who I am and the world we are living in.

蘿拉也曾在網站上分享自己的研究成果，透過實驗數據，她得出幾個能讓老鼠活得更久的觀察，包括：
1. 減少卡路里攝取量，可延長老鼠的壽命。
2. 胰島素基因的變異，會延長老鼠的壽命。
3. 輸入年輕血液，能活化老者的生理機能。
4. 清除體內的老化細胞。
5. 改善溶體的吞噬效率。
6. 下視丘對生長激素的調控，對延長壽命至關重要。
7. 移除性腺。蘿拉發現，蠕蟲被移除精子與卵子後，壽命明顯增長了六成。另外根據南韓官方資料，太監的壽命比一般人多出14到19年。

👏At its simplest, it’s just how critical quality social bonds and friendships are. In animals, the big measures that evolutionary biologists study are reproductive success, which they count as either how many babies you have or how long those babies live, and longevity, or how long you survive. Nonhuman primates have very structured hierarchies that they exist in, and everyone assumed that that must have more importance for how long you live and how many babies you have and how healthy they are. And it wasn’t. The most important thing was the strength of the social bonds, how positively and well and regularly an individual animal interacted with other animals. Scientists really couldn’t believe it.
