👉🏼Afraid, Scared & Frightened👈🏼
呢三個字大家都唔陌生，都係解「害怕」，但”frightened”仲可以指「突然的受驚」，例如”Dai Dai was frightened because of the car crash.”，”car crash”係突發嘅，而”Dai Dai is afraid of heights.” (大大畏高Acrophobia。🙄)就少用”frightened”，因為畏高係一向嘅。

除咗意思嘅小不同，用法都有啲唔同㗎喎。
1️⃣ Adj+of
例如三個adjectives都可以跟”of + ing form”同埋”of + noun”，而”afraid”同”scared”仲可以跟”of + pronoun”, 但”frightened”就唔會。
✅所以會有”afraid/scared/frightened of crashing”/“afraid/scared/frightened of spiders”同埋”afraid/scared of him”。
❎但就冇”frightened of him”。

2️⃣ Adj+to-infinitive
佢地三個都可以跟to-infinitive。例如”Don’t leave me alone. I am too scared/afraid/frightened to stay alone in such a dark room.”

3️⃣ Scared by/ Frightened by
我哋可以講”scared by sth”或者”frightened by sth”, 但”afraid”同”by”係唔可以痴埋一齊。
✅可以講”She is afraid because of the spider dropping on her head.”
❎但唔可以”She is afraid by the spider.”

4️⃣ Afraid跟verb, 唔可以放喺noun前面，而”scared”同”frightened”都可以(attributive)。
✅”She is afraid.”冇問題。
❎”She is an afraid woman.”就唔得。
✅ “There is a scared/frightened boy.”指「受驚嘅男仔」。

5️⃣ “Frightening”同”Scary”指「可怕的」，但”Afraid”就冇一個form指「可怕的」。
✅”There is a frightening/scary ghost!” (❎There is a frightened/scared ghost.)
❎”There is an afraid ghost!”
