Silicon-Valley based developers UAVOS developed a solar-powered unmanned aircraft that can remain airborne for up to a year. The High Altitude Pseudo Satellite ApusDuo aircraft successfully passed the first stages of testing, according to its developers. The aircraft uses control algorithms that automatically bend and flex its two long parallel wings to remain in the air for long periods of time. Ultimately, the UAV will broaden the scope for monitoring environmental conditions, weather and illegal activity in areas with limited infrastructure. (REUTERS)
