I remember that scene as if it was yesterday. He was only 61 years old. The graveyard was destroyed and flattened by Red Guards a year later, for the politically incorrect crime of such non-proletariat ancestral worship. Here is the story about Sitti Asnah Binti Asakil @ Jang from Lahad Datu. Ever since her father passed away 4 years ago, she has been looking after her sick mother who had a stroke. Her 2 sisters are married and are living in Peninsular Malaysia with their respective family, while her brother is recovering from Tuberculosis. Some of you might know Sitti as your nature guide in Tabin Wildlife Resort. She worked there for a while before joining Borneo Ultimate Sport Adventure Tours (BUSAT). In 2016, due to her mother’s condition, she resigned from the agency and became a freelance tour guide. When asked about her most memorable experience, she recalls leading the Great Adventure People Group (GAP) for 13 days discovering Sabah was the highlight of her exciting career. Since the pandemic started, Sitti’s job assignments have been cancelled making it difficult for her to cover monthly expenses. House rent, car loan, cost of essentials is piling up on her expenses. She gave up as her credit began to increase hence sought to stay with her brother in Lahad Datu. She had a brief job as delivery officer with a courier company but the cost of living was still burdening her hence she decided to return to Lahad Datu and run a few small businesses online. It might not be enough but she is grateful to at least provide food and give her mother the comfort of wearing diapers. Sitti is selling various items.
