‘Nhìn xuống tầng đối lưu’ là loạt tranh sơn dầu vẫn đang tiếp diễn, nhằm khám phá 3 trạng thái đặc của mây trời: sự biến dạng, vị trí trung gian và tính trong suốt. Lấy cảm hứng từ cuốn sách ‘Con đường tôi đi, con đường của mây trắng’ (1975) của Osho, Tia bắt đầu tâp trung quan sát sự tương tác giữa ánh nắng, gió và mây, tạo nên những hình thù vật lý và màu sắc khác nhau trên bầu trời. Cô luôn xem bản thân mình như một đám mây, phóng chiếu những tâm tư tình cảm lên hình dáng của chúng, biến đổi theo cơn gió. Không điểm đầu, không điểm cuối.

Những bức tranh là nhật ký hành trình của Tia, được viết từ một điểm ‘ngắm mây’ khác lạ từ cửa sổ máy bay nhìn xuống tầng đối lưu. Góc nhìn này thể hiện phần nào cuộc sống của cô trong suốt nhiều năm qua, với phần lớn thời gian ngược xuôi một mình, băng qua rất nhiều đường biên và lãnh địa rộng lớn từ nằm giữa Việt Nam và Châu âu, những vùng đất nơi Đông và Tây ‘va chạm’, hòa lẫn và định hình lẫn nhau.

‘Looking down the troposphere’ is an on-going oil painting series which explores 3 different natural states of the sky: transformation, transition and transparency. Taking inspiration from the book ‘My way, the way of the white clouds’ (1975) by Osho, Tia has started to observe the interactions between sunlight, wind and clouds, that as a result cause physical formations and colours of the sky. She considers herself as a cloud, projecting her inner feelings onto their shapes, which adapt with the wind. No beginning, no end.

The paintings are Tia’s travel diary, written from an unusual perspective from an airplane's window looking down to the troposphere. This point of view reflects her life over the past, spending most of her time travelling alone, crossing geographical boundaries of vast lands between Vietnam - Europe. The lands where the East and the West collide, merging into and redefining one another.

Khi danh họa Fernand Léger tuyên bố "Con người không thể sống thiếu màu sắc!", có lẽ ông ám chỉ cả nghĩa đen lẫn nghĩa bóng. Trí nhớ, trải nghiệm, nhận thức và nền tảng văn hoá của mỗi người sẽ khiến họ cảm nhận màu sắc một cách khác nhau. Trong quá trình cảm nhận đó, chúng ta sống và để lại những dấu vết của sự tồn tại của mình. Màu sắc không đơn thuần kết quả của một phản ứng vật lý khi ánh sáng được truyền đến mắt ta, chúng là một ngôn ngữ. Với Tia, việc đưa màu sắc vào tác phẩm không hẳn để mô phỏng một hiện tượng, mà để phát ra một tín hiệu cảm xúc. Sau gần 2 năm kể từ khi bắt đầu loạt tranh ‘Nhìn xuống tầng đối lưu’, Tia mới thực sự cảm thấy mãnh lực của màu sắc khi quan sát chúng trong tự nhiên và để chúng bới tung mọi trải nghiệm cá nhân của mình trong quá khứ. Cùng một bầu trời, một sớm bình minh nhưng ta có thể liên tưởng đến hai ký ức và cảm xúc khác biệt nhau...

When Ferrnand Léger famously said “Man needs colors to live!”, perhaps he meant it both literally and metaphorically. Each person’s memory, experience, awareness and cultural background affects how they see and feel colour. During the process, we live and then leave our marks, which explain our existence. Colours are not simply a result of a physical reaction when lights enter into our eyes, it’s a type of language. To me, bringing different colours to my paintings is not just to describe a phenomenon, it is how I broadcast my emotional signals. After nearly 2 years working on the series ‘Looking down the troposphere’, I’ve now started to feel the power of colours when experiencing them in nature and let them excavate every of my personal experience in the past. The same sky, in an early morning still one could think of two completely different memories and emotions.
