Anger, aggression and bitterness are like thieves in the night who steal our ability to love and care. Is it possible to turn that negativity around and chill out so we can wish our abuser well? This may sound challenging or even absurd, but it can make life's difficulties far more tolerable.

🌞 Recognize no one harms another unless they are in pain themselves. : Ever noticed how, when you're in a good mood, it's hard for you to harm or hurt anything? But when you are in bad mood, you are more impulsive.

🌞 No one can hurt you unless you let them: When someone hurts us, we are inadvertently letting them have an emotional hold over us. Instead, if someone yells at you, let them scream; it makes them happy!

🌞 Respect yourself enough that you want to feel good: Don't respond to them with negativity, turn it around within yourself and began to wish them well.

🌞 Consider how you may have contributed to the situation:  It's all too easy to point fingers and blame the perpetrator, but no difficulty is entirely one-sided. So contemplate your piece in the dialogue or what you may have done to add fuel to the fire.

🌞 Extend kindness: That doesn't mean you're like a doormat that lets others trample all over you while you lie there and take it. But it does mean letting go of negativity sooner than you might have done before so that you can replace it with compassion.

🌞 Meditate: Meditation takes the heat out of things and helps you cool off, so you don't overreact. A daily practice we use focuses on a person we may have difficulty with or have a problem with us. We hold them in our hearts and say: "May you be well! May you be happy! May all things go well for you!"

Been there, done that and I know by first-hand experience that reacting to hate and bitterness is only allowing yourself to feel bad for something you didn't do (in most cases). The best thing you can do is put yourself out of the drama and be at peace.

年僅14歲，成為奧運史上第一位獲得滿分10分的體操皇后，用寫信給未來年輕體操選手的口吻，敘述她自己的故事，和這個戲劇般的人生給她的啟示

“I don’t give up, ever. I don’t run away from a challenge because I am afraid. Instead, I run toward it because the only way to escape fear is to trample it beneath your feet.”

（我不放棄的，絕不！我不會因為害怕而逃避挑戰。相反的，我會直直的衝向它。因為脫離恐懼唯一的辦法，就是將它踩在腳底下）

這本又是前幾週著迷奧運時買下的書。今年奧運有幾位稚氣的小女孩奪牌，受到媒體的關注和網路上不斷分享轉發的可愛受訪影片。當然也引來了討論，讓十多歲孩子年幼開始這樣嚴謹的體育訓練，到底對這些孩子是好是壞，而且是否公平呢？於是我也看到文章討論羅馬尼亞體操皇后 Nadia Comaneci (娜迪亞·科曼妮奇）的故事，很快找到他這一本自傳。

每一章開頭她都先解釋一個體操項目的動作，就像是一個殷殷指教後輩的教練一般。生長在鐵幕時期的羅馬尼亞，娜迪亞天生活潑好動。當時的政府認為在體育界發光發熱，是提升國家國際地位的辦法，所以刻意地尋找有這方面天賦的孩子。他在校園翻跟斗意外被一位國家教練看見，像是灰姑娘故事中王子用玻璃鞋找公主的故事一般，一個班級一個班級讓孩子們翻滾給他看，終於把她找出來了。父母也樂見體力過剩的孩子，現在有個精力發揮的出口。

在她小時候雖然訓練嚴苛，但可以感覺到她是樂在其中的。當年她踏上第一場奧運比賽，基本上根本不知道奧運是什麼。帶著一種驚奇探索的好奇心，她只知道把教練教她，練習過成千上萬遍的動作做好。就這樣，這個羅馬尼亞女孩，一路過關斬將獲得許多滿分，像是黑馬一般，第一次出現在世界的舞台上。

有很大一部分的篇幅在描述奧運金牌過後的人生。回到自己的國家，第一件事情就是被接機的群眾和突如其來的關注嚇哭了。她說很多人以為他衣錦還鄉改善了家裡的經濟環境，並且吃香喝辣，但她說在一個鐵幕政權下，所有的榮譽都是歸給國家的，她只是回到了原本的生活，家中的經濟也沒有任何改善，更不要說有任何名聲帶來的機會和收入。而進入青少年時期的她，因著國家教練策略改變，青春期身體的變化，父母離婚，以及眾多關於他喝漂白水自殺的謠言，讓她歷經低谷。後來啟蒙的教練再度早上她，問她是否願意再一次拼搏。幾經思考後她依然決定要再嘗試一次。雖然不是奧運，但是在歐洲體操比賽中她再度獲獎，也算是證明自己可以強勢回歸。

即便這樣她的生活還是沒有太明顯的改善，唯一就是這個光環讓他可以進入大學。當時羅馬尼亞的鐵幕政府希望增加人口，於是用各種方法讓婦女不斷生育，可是同時國家也沒辦法產生足夠的糧食，造成民間極大的痛苦以及政權的不穩定。在一次前往美國的比賽中，她的啟蒙教練和妻子趁機逃脫，而驚訝不已的娜迪亞和其他人被羅馬尼亞政府視為叛徒的同夥。從此她就在高度的監視之下過生活。歷經許多的絕望並且看不到人生未來的出路後，她偶然碰見一個說要幫助她逃脫的機會，冒著極大的風險，沿路跋涉經過匈牙利和奧地利，最後來到了美國。但不會說英語也沒有工作了他仍然不知如何是好。在命運的巧合安排之下，他14歲那年同樣得牌的美國體操選手巴特康納 （Bart Connor) 聯繫上她，不但協助他在美國找到了自由，後來兩人更是結為夫妻，在過去近30年來過著幸福快樂的生活。

網路上有很多關於她的故事，特別是關於羅馬尼亞獨裁者的兒子如何控制她，還有帶領她逃亡到美國的人如何剝削利用她，在這本自傳中她都否認。我相信她必然經過許多心理上的創傷，但已經進入幸福自由人生的她，應該也沒有粉飾太平的必要了。所以或許網路上很多的東西，真的看看就好。

書中最後一章，是她和未婚夫回到故鄉羅馬尼亞的。帶著驚恐和創傷記憶的她，不知道會面對什麼場景。但脫離鐵幕政權已久的羅馬尼亞人民熱烈的歡迎著她。而他的未婚夫正式想娜迪亞父親提出婚約時，喜悅緊張並且聽不懂英語的父親，一直說 “謝謝,謝謝!” 。書裡面也講到許多體操選手在心理狀態不佳時，仍然硬著頭皮上場，造成的各種永久性傷害。有一名與她競爭的蘇俄女孩，就是因為這樣在落地時，折斷了頸椎造成終身癱瘓。他現在與丈夫在美國開創的體操學校，不但想要訓練頂尖選手，更是想要讓單純享受運動的樂趣了孩子可以學習。她說大部分的孩子都不會進到奧運殿堂，但好的運動習慣，心態，以及獎學金，都至少可以幫助這些孩子活出最好的自己。看了她這麼戲劇化的故事，還有今年奧運關於運動員心理健康的討論，真的覺得我們對於「卓越」的定義，是可以更寬廣更有人性的。

The Treasure is in your Hands

“He said to me, “Don’t seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is at hand. He who acts unjustly, let him act unjustly still. He who is filthy, let him be filthy still. He who is righteous, let him do righteousness still. He who is holy, let him be holy still.”” (Revelation‬ ‭22:10-11‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

People have free will, and they will choose what they want to.

It is not your job to convince people that they should believe in Jesus. God did not send us to do sales for His kingdom.

Your privilege is to announce the Good News of Jesus Christ, and let the Holy Spirit do the persuading in the hearers’ hearts.

Those who will believe at this point in time will believe. Those who won’t, won’t. Simple as that!

Jesus likened preaching the Gospel to catching fishes. If you toss your net in for a catch, and you draw it up after, will you care about the fishes inside the net, or will you fret about those who swam away?

If you’re like me, you will probably be happy about the fishes you caught, and ignore those that got away.

“When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep, and let down your nets for a catch.” Simon answered him, “Master, we worked all night, and took nothing; but at your word I will let down the net.” When they had done this, they caught a great multitude of fish, and their net was breaking.” (Luke‬ ‭5:4-6‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Want to catch more fishes? Toss more nets whenever the Holy Spirit leads you to let your net down for a catch. He can show you the right place and right time to sow the Gospel in a person’s heart.

A soul winner is not a door-to-door salesman. He is led by the omniscient Spirit of God, who sees all the outcomes of every time and action. He can make your preaching effective and fruitful.

““Don’t give that which is holy to the dogs, neither throw your pearls before the pigs, lest perhaps they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.” (Matthew‬ ‭7:6‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

The Gospel you believe in your heart is a priceless treasure. Why do you need to hard-sell others about a great treasure? Those who have an eye for value will want it and ask you about it.

Some well-intentioned believers are repeatedly preaching to the wrong people. They are trying to convince those who will never believe. In Jesus’ parable, father Abraham said that some people will never be convinced, even if a spirit rises from the dead to warn them about Hell.

““He said, ‘I ask you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house; for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, so they won’t also come into this place of torment.’ “But Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets. Let them listen to them.’ “He said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ “He said to him, ‘If they don’t listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if one rises from the dead.’”” (Luke‬ ‭16:27-31‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Remember—announce the Gospel; don’t hard-sell it and cheapen the image of this priceless treasure we have!
