ความแตกต่างอย่างหนึ่ง ที่ทำให้รถกระบะขนาดใหญ่หรือ full size เหนือกว่ารถกระบะขนาดกลาง นอกเหนือไปจากเทคโนโลยี และพื้นที่ใช้สอยต่างๆ ความใหญ่โตของตัวถัง ทำให้รถกระบะยักษ์ สามารถทำให้ส่วนต่างๆ ถูกนำไปประยุกต์ใช้งาน ได้หลากหลายมากกว่า คุณสมบัติอย่างหนึ่ง ที่รถกระบะ full size มักจะมี และหาไม่ได้ในรถกระบะขนาดกลางส่วนใหญ่ ก็คือฝาท้ายกระบะสารพัดประโยชน์ ที่บางคน อาจจะเคยผ่านตามาบ้างแล้ว แต่นั่นก็จะมีเพียงรถกระบะขนาด full size บางรุ่นเท่านั้น
