“You Know Me” — Christian poem by Milton Goh
I enter an escalator
At a train station in town
Many pedestrians pass me by
Like a brilliant blur before my eyes
At most I assess by appearance
By faint facial expressions
By loud and lively chatter
By what arrestingly adorns them
By their chosen companions
Which are all shallow substantiations
At times slanderous criticisms surfaced
Like poison polluting my heart
Muddying my muddled soul
But only God knows these precious people
They are like a library of beloved books
To read perfectly as He pleases
What perfect Person is this
To know absolutely all
And still choose self-sacrifice
To love lavishly
And forgive freely
Wiser are Your ways
Towering over my thoughts
Above all I can think or imagine
The only way to respond rightly
Is to wholly worship You
And not take life so lightly
How much better can this be
That You know me fully
And You still love me.
