2015-10-23 16:00:10Fun snack idea for kids!
Perfect for Halloween and April Fool's Day prank XD
Homemade soy milk chocolate custard cream makes it very dainty!
Of course you can use your favorite instant chocolate pudding mix ;)
---------------------------------
Dirt Cups with Worms
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 15min + cooling time
Number of servings: 4 small cups
Ingredients:
15 OREO cookies
Healthy Soy Milk Chocolate Custard Cream
* 1 egg
* 2 tbsp. sugar
* 2 tbsp. flour
* 200ml soy milk or milk
* 50g (1.8oz.) milk chocolate
mint leaves
gummy worms
Directions:
((Healthy Soy Milk Chocolate Custard Cream))
1. Mix egg and sugar in a bowl.
2. Add flour and mix well.
3. Add soy milk and mix well.
4. Transfer to a saucepan (strain to remove the lumps if you can), put on low, stir constantly, and stop the heat when the cream starts to thicken. Mix well with the remaining heat until smooth.
5. Break in some chocolate, then leave to cool.
6. Cover the saucepan with plastic wrap (make sure the cream sticks to the plastic wrap to keep from drying out). Cool in the fridge until cold.
((To Finish))
1. Put OREO cookies in a Ziploc bag then crush them.
2. Mix some cookie crumbs to the chocolate custard cream.
3. Spoon the cookie crumbs and the custard mixture alternately into cups. Top with cookie crumbs.
4. Garnish with mint leaves and gummy worms to finish.

Have you heard about rote learning vs meaningful learning?
It’s the idea that you don’t need flash cards, abcs, “learning” drills or exercises or scheduled time for your little one but instead allow them the space to take in their rich environment and explore.
Instead of memorizing, kids learn to grasp and understand concepts fully by being given the freedom to experiment and soak in.
We have never taught my daughter abcs, no worksheet, no flash cards, no “abc” time at home or at school.
Instead we read a lot by interest, or in school, she sees her name on lots of things, asks questions, copies, follows, explores and learns at her own pace and understanding.
This last week, she pleasantly surprised us when at a restaurant, she started writing her full name. She also wrote my husband’s name, Joe, even though she had never seen it on paper (it’s usually Joseph on paper but we call him Joe for short) but knew that it was spelled J-O-E so she experimented and tried it on her own. She also asked me how to spell mama.
Notice the extra squiggles between of her practicing new letters and trying to figure it out on her own. G’s and M’s are really tricky! It’s also very common for little ones to transpose opposite (go from left to right), write in mirror image (b looks like d) or confuse their upper case and lower case letters.
Just give them time, I promise they will come around and when it clicks, oh how they will get it.
This route may be slower but so pivotal to a life long love of learning and if the schools aren’t focused on rudimentary rote learning concepts, they have more time to build the foundation for bigger things like feelings and emotions, communication and social skills, confidence and movement.
It really works, guys! 😂❤️

Looking for an easy table activity to entertain your little one?
Bring a little pair of scissors!
We started off w the blunt plastic toddler kind and have recently graduated to the blunt tip children kind that's sharper as her skills improved.
Varieties of activities include:
Cutting up an old magazine
Cutting up pictures
Glueing scraps to make a mosaic
Paper mache project
Drawing lines and squiggles for them to follow and cut
Basic paper cut art and teaching them how to fold and how it works
As usual, when our meal arrives, she has to clean up and put away her toys. I highly recommend this as a good follow-through technique as well as encouraging good table manners and mealtimes as a time of interaction and fun!
