I’ve never experienced comfort from an animal before. Last week, while extremely tired and hungry, I was watching Netflix and felt really emotional about an episode on Hotel Del Luna (every week someone dies or is betrayed, because it’s a k-drama and it’s about ghosts). I started sobbing while Bob was playing by our bed. The boy suddenly meowed and trotted over to my bedside. He peered up at me and placed one paw over the edge of the bed before hopping onto my bedside table and came over to hang out with me. I couldn’t stop sniffling and that was when instead of waiting at a spot near my feet which he usually does, he slowly moved super close to my face and literally had his big ass eyes peer out at me and tried to touch my face with his paws where my tears were like streaming. He doesn’t like being near my face on most days, so I was surprised and also really comforted. Managed to calm down and started telling him I was okay, and he just lay by me silently without meowing (he’s usually very talkative) allowing me to stroke him. I finally stopped and he stuck around for a bit before getting off the bed. I have never experienced this sort of judgement and worry free comfort in my life. I tend to keep my feelings to myself a lot and no one really sees me when I’m down like in person. Not saying humans in my life haven’t been effective, but it’s just different.
