ヘリ落としが切れないというのは道具の問題ではなく、砥ぎ方がうまくできていないから。

買ったばかりの新品でも、このような道具は自分で砥ぎ直してから使うのが普通。
自分で刃付けしないと本当の切れ味にはなりません。

革包丁をキンキンに砥いでみました。
動画的には地味ですが、本当に切れるナイフは新聞紙に刃を垂直に落とすだけで切れます。
（コピー用紙を使ったり斜め切り・引きながら切っている動画がありますが、こうした切り方は実はそんなに研がなくてもできるインパクト重視の演出です。）
比較のため、新品のカッターナイフでも新聞紙を切ってみました。

初めてなので手際が良くないですが、市販の豆カンナで革の床漉きにチャレンジしてみました。買ったばかりの刃ではうまく漉けなかったので砥ぎ直してみたところスルスルと床面を漉くことができました。

ちなみに、カンナの刃はねじを緩めて調整できるのですが、ハンマーで叩いた方が微調整しやすいです。
