    Do you like cincalok? 🤗🤗
    .
Well, cincalok is made up of fermented small shrimps or krill, usually served as a condiment together with chilis, shallots and lime juice. It can be used as marination or added into dishes as well. The shrimp in the pinkish coloured cincalok is readily identifiable and the taste is salty. 🤩🤩
    .
Tadah! here’s the unique dish Roasted Cincalok Chicken from Quan’s Kitchen. If you love cincalok taste then this dish is for you. The chicken is juicy, aromatic, the marination is just right with cincalok, spices and herbs, then roast to perfection. 😍😍
    .

    ✨ Roasted Sesame Garlic Potato
✨ Wok Fried Cereal Eggplant with Chili & Curry Leaf
✨ Cameron Highland Spring Mix Salad with Wafu Dressing
✨ Black Glutinous Rice & Coconut Tart
    .
Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur, Chinatown introduced their new Family Feasts menu from Quan’s Kitchen – best enjoyed in the comfort of home. Their menu items highlighting spices and ingredients from our surrounding neighbourhood. 💥💥
    .
Each perfect for 3-4 persons, there will be 3 fresh menu items to choose from; Whole Roasted Cincalok Chicken, Baked Whole Saltwater Seabass with Szechuan Spice, and the Slow-Baked Kam Heong Beef Back Ribs. 🥳🥳

The M.E. Series (The Millennial Experience). Created all on Mobile with #iPhone12ProMax

Weekend. Raining. Work had been hectic. Needed to take some time off to recharge. Covid. WFH. Blurred lines between work and personal time. No time to shut off from work completely. Found myself working from screens to screen. Laptop to phone. Even leisure is watching videos online.

In need of time for a digital detox.

Found a bookstore that was opened in Feb this year, in the heart of Orchard Road, Wheelock Place. Where the Borders flagship used to be. If you know what I’m talking about, you’re from my time. I recall the times when I was still in secondary school, hanging at Borders with my friends who love reading, and I will be there checking out the CDs.

Heard that it has a 2 storey space with a cafe and gallery as well. Heard that the ones in China open 24hours, although it’s not happening in SG yet

    ——

Zall Bookstore, an outlet with more than 30,000 books mostly in Chinese, also has a cafe and art gallery

    ——

“Ms Laura Yan Ge, 24, who is general manager of the Singapore store, said at a media preview on Friday that while the company did not anticipate the coronavirus outbreak erupting amid its expansion, it believes bookstores are especially vital during a pandemic.

‘Because of Covid-19, there is a lot of distance between people nowadays," she said in Mandarin. "We believe books will help to close this gap. They provide food for thought and people can use them to widen their worlds.’”

As a creator myself, I need to constantly find inspiration.

While I can readily find all sorts of information online, sometimes I found my mind being constantly overloaded instead. We read. Socialise. We basically live most parts of our lives in the virtual world, and now we have lesser and lesser reasons to get out there anymore.

So, why a new book store? When was the last time you visited a book store?

Being here made me realised that it’s not about the books. It’s about the space. It’s about the experience. It’s about being here and being present. And what happens when you unplug from the internet and be present in the moment? You’ll get involuntarily intrigued by the surroundings, the people, the architecture, the noise, the beauty of it all. You’ll find headspace. You’ll find your inspiration. You’ll even find a new you.

When was the last time you stepped outside, set aside time just for yourself, and experience life beyond the screen?

For this episode, we went down to The Drunken Poet at Orchard Road to attempt an Undefeated 5KG Burger Challenge! This challenge has a 30-minute time limit and can be done in pairs. I invited a subscriber of mine and budding competitive eater, Edmund (@edapappe), to tackle this challenge with me. On top of all that, The Drunken Poet offered to donate $500 to a charity of our choosing should we do it within the time limit. We decided on Tak Takut Kids Club (TTKC), a children’s charity.

The burger itself consisted of a 1.5kg Beef Patty, a 1kg burger bun, 500g each of lettuce, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, crispy bacon and crispy onions, forming one formidable burger. It is actually available for delivery and costs $98.70, easily serving 5-6 people. Perhaps surprisingly, most of the components of the burger were delicious, especially the crispy bacon. With a time limit and only 2 daring men attempting it, it was truly a challenge. Focusing only on the kids relying on us, we pushed through and completed this Undefeated 5kg Burger Challenge in 28 minutes and 21 seconds.

Thankfully, this means that TTKC is $500 closer to their fundraising needs. TTKC is a home to many children and teenagers who come from challenging backgrounds. It is where children can come and play, make friends, get help with homework, and receive socio-emotional support that they might not be able to get in their own homes and in schools. As a connector to nearly a hundred participants (and local stakeholders), TTKC is also readily activated when community support for children is needed. It sees a daily attendance of 40 children, and their numbers are growing steadily! TTKC needs at least $25,000 to cover rent for the upcoming year, so please check out their website below to find out how you can support them, either by directly donating or through one of their fundraising programs.
