After the longest time, I decided to pick up an external monitor. I found my 15 inch to be too small and not great for long periods of editing and just general viewing.
I’ve spent a lot of time researching the right monitor that was at minimum 4K and 27 inches and at a decent price that wasn’t the cost of a new laptop. Came across the @asusmalaysia PA279CV. It came highly recommended but some photographers I look up to and came at a price that wasn’t to burn a hole in my wallet.
I’ll admit, I was quite hesitant but I am pretty happy with the monitor. It has a great build quality and a really good screen with accurate colours.
A few things I’ve noticed is that the monitor does run slightly warmer than my MacBook screen. It’s not a whole lot but if you put it side by side you can slightly tell. There is a very very slight backlight bleed but to be expected from an IPS panel. Speakers are terrible and i wish the blacks were slightly richer.
This is just a first impressions and I’ll post a review once I’ve spent more time with it! I’m honestly very very happy with the monitor. My biggest issue was that turns out some of these photographers seem to have been sponsored (and didn’t disclose) and didn’t run through some of the downsides.
I’d still recommend this recommend it so far as the price for what you are getting is really worth the money!
(This isn’t sponsored. I paid for this monitor at full price on my own)
