人體裡，最小的骨頭！
你知道是哪一塊嗎？
講到人體裡最大的骨頭，相信大家都很容易猜到，是我們的大腿骨（femur）啦！不過，最小的你又知道是哪一塊嗎？
是人體中耳內的三塊聽小骨（auditory ossicles）裡最小最小的鐙骨（stapes）。到底是有多小呢？
聽小骨共有三塊，他們都是按著形狀來命名：
· 錘骨（malleus）-形狀猶如錘子一樣
· 砧骨（incus）-形狀猶如砧，以前一種用以放置物體鍛打的堅硬平面，廚房的砧板則多為木製。
· 鐙骨（stapes）-形狀猶如鐙，為安放於馬鞍旁邊，令騎者更容易在鞍上坐穩的腳踏。
錘子般的錘骨為最外面的聽小骨，與砧骨相連，而砧骨則與鐙骨相連。錘骨將力傳到耳蝸，三聽小骨利用槓桿原理來放大聲音。因此當空氣傳至末端令到鼓膜（eardrum）震動時，在旁的錘骨會受影響而震動，經過砧骨傳到鐙骨，繼而刺激內耳。這三聽小骨，雖然「骨仔細細」，力量卻很大！沒有他們聽覺也會受到影響。簡單來說，三小骨的距離控制了聲波的大小，而這個距離都是以肌肉所控制的（即：三小骨的距離越近，聲波就越大）。
一般在搜索及尋找骨骸，特別是挖掘工作時，這三小骨很容易就被忽略在泥土之中，以為是砂石，繼而丟失。所以，一般在看到相對完整的骨骸，特別是頭顱骨時，會異常小心清理耳洞的部分。因為只要撥走後，之後就很大機會找不回來。我曾將在已經碎掉的頭顱骨裡的耳洞找到了所有的聽小骨！當下滿足感爆燈啊！（看看下圖的連結，就會知道為何我滿足感會瞬間遞增，哈哈！）
