Remember God After You Have Prospered

“You shall observe to do all the commandments which I command you today, that you may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers. You shall remember all the way which Yahweh your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, to prove you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments, or not. He humbled you, and allowed you to be hungry, and fed you with manna, which you didn’t know, neither did your fathers know; that he might teach you that man does not live by bread only, but man lives by every word that proceeds out of Yahweh’s mouth. Your clothing didn’t grow old on you, neither did your foot swell, these forty years. You shall consider in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so Yahweh your God disciplines you. You shall keep the commandments of Yahweh your God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him. For Yahweh your God brings you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of springs, and underground water flowing into valleys and hills; a land of wheat and barley, and vines and fig trees and pomegranates; a land of olive trees and honey; a land in which you shall eat bread without scarceness, you shall not lack anything in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills you may dig copper. You shall eat and be full, and you shall bless Yahweh your God for the good land which he has given you. Beware lest you forget Yahweh your God, in not keeping his commandments, and his ordinances, and his statutes, which I command you today; lest, when you have eaten and are full, and have built fine houses, and lived in them; and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold is multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied; then your heart might be lifted up, and you forget Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage; who led you through the great and terrible wilderness, with venomous snakes and scorpions, and thirsty ground where there was no water; who poured water for you out of the rock of flint; who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers didn’t know; that he might humble you, and that he might prove you, to do you good at your latter end: and lest you say in your heart, “My power and the might of my hand has gotten me this wealth.” But you shall remember Yahweh your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth; that he may establish his covenant which he swore to your fathers, as it is today.” (Deuteronomy 8:1-18 WEB)

The Lord gave me a word “scorpions” which led me to this passage.

I sense that a lot of us here have been through a long wilderness journey where we have been asking God “How long more,” and we are already close to entering our promised land.

As we are about to enjoy His marvelous restoration and multiplication of provision in our lives, in whatever way He has been leading you, REMEMBER HIM when you go into the land flowing with milk and honey.

Don’t forget all the precious lessons about humility and faith that you learned while in the dry wilderness.

Money can be destructive because the sinful flesh is tempted to make money its idol.

Keep your eyes on Jesus…

There is a reason why things take time. The preparation phase is needed so that you would be able to handle the sudden multiplication.

Despite all the tough times, God has always been faithful to you, and you are still alive. Give thanks to Him!

Under the New Covenant of Grace, to keep God’s commandments means to believe in Jesus Christ and to love one another as Christ has loved us. Will you allow yourself to continue being led by the Spirit to walk in love, even after you have prospered?

I say again, REMEMBER HIM. Okay, now go and possess your promised land. The Lord shall go before you, and you will approach it one step at a time with each passing day!

Remember where you came from.

You were once a hopeless slave to sin who was dead in your sins.

God delivered you from that prison when you placed your faith in Jesus.

You were crucified with Christ, and the Holy Spirit resurrected you. He joined Himself to your spirit so that you took on a divine nature.

You (the immortal spirit living inside the mortal body) were born again as God’s child.

God clothed you with Christ’s righteousness, and you became a joint heir of His kingdom.

All the grace, goodness, and blessings that you enjoy is because of Jesus Christ and the blood that He shed at the cross.

There is nothing for you to boast about. You did not save yourself. You did not prosper yourself.

Never forget God, even as He takes you higher and further. Worship Him and give all glory to Him in Jesus’ name, especially when people praise you.

Take a few minutes to meditate on the passage below, and REMEMBER WHERE YOU CAME FROM.

If you stay humble, you will be stable. You will not fall!

「鎌倉市公共の場所におけるマナーの向上に関する条例」について（抜粋）
1-(1)（車道において、立ち止まる等車両の通行の妨げになるような方法で撮影を行うこと）
・道路交通法上、道路において交通の妨害となるような方法で立ち止まっていることが禁止されているものの、現在、多くの方々から指摘のある鎌倉高校前駅付近の撮影行為を念頭に置き、「立ち止まる等車両の通行の妨げになるような方法で撮影を行うこと」を迷惑行為としています。
1-(2)（線路の周辺等危険な場所で撮影を行うこと）
・「線路の周辺等危険な場所で撮影を行うこと」としては、線路に身を乗り出したり、車道に身を乗り出したりした撮影を想定しています。
