    I learnt how to glide on a Segway Personal Transporter in Hawai’i!

    Owner Alan Rice and our tour guide Teddy Nakaji took us along the oceanfront Ali’l Drive – designated as a Hawaii Scenic Byway.

    The speed demon in me was trying VERY hard not to exceed my limit, so I focused instead on soaking in the beauty of the ocean views and the “Royal Footsteps” along the Kona Coast.

    Gliding through the quaint village, we learnt more about the area’s rich Hawaiian history, with stops at the Kaulua Pier – which is the starting and finishing point for the Ironman World Championship. So, @remastura, walaupun I tak IM, at least I can brag I was “there” 😆.

    We stopped by Ahu’ena Haeiau, King Kamehameha’s personal retreat and temple (where he spent the last years of his life) and proceeded to the historic Kona Beach Hotel, next to the heiau that is built on the grounds where the Great once resided and Hulihe’e Palace.

    This Palace was the vacation residence of Hawaiian royalty and today stands as a museum.

    FUN FACT: The main floors of Hulihe’e Palace was spared the wrath of the 2011 Tsunami … protected by spirits perhaps?

    We also made a pit-stop at the Moku’Auikaua Church, the Island’s first Christian Church built in 1820, located directly across the Palace.

    Teddy allowed the Speedy Gonzales in me to go crazy at the old airport, and I took off with no limitations and even whizzed by with no hands on the bar!
