[Beijing] I remember I was searching for a former Prince’s mansion while exploring the Xisi (西四) district in Beijing when I came across the Beijing Buddhist Lodge or the Beijing Buddhist Jushilin (居士林). I was shocked because I used to be close with the Singapore Buddhist Lodge (SBL) when its former President late Mr Lee Bock Guan (李木源林长) was alive, he gave me guidance, supported me in publishing a poetry book and gave me exclusive interviews and stories when I was still with the press. After he passed away in 2015, I gradually stop going to the SBL and memories of the meetings with late Mr Lee are refreshed when I saw this Buddhist organisation in Beijing, I was surprised that there is another temple with the same name here! I went in immediately without much thought and found out that it was built in 1924. As most of the devotees and the staffs were in a midst of a prayer, I did not bother them further. After that I texted the resident monk in SBL and I was told that there are at least 3 Buddhist Lodges in the world and they are in talks with one another.
