    美國德克薩斯大學（University of Texas）最新研究報告指出，SARS-CoV-2（新冠病毒）確實可以感染睾丸。

    這項會讓全世界男性感到擔憂的研究，可能可以解釋為什麼部分染疫的男性會在患病期間抱怨睾丸疼痛，或是出現睾丸激素低於正常水平的狀況。

    研究人員相信，經由瞭解新冠肺炎如何影響睾丸，將有助於衡量男性的健康狀況。過往部分針對患者的屍檢結果指出，患者的睾丸細胞有明顯遭到破壞的跡象，且發現了免疫細胞的殘留。

    新冠病毒並不是第一個會攻擊睾丸的病毒。

    UTMB實驗室的羅西博士（Shannan Rossi）與其研究團隊長年進行茲卡病毒對睾丸的感染研究。在新冠肺炎疫情爆發後，他們將目光轉向SARS-CoV-2，想知道新冠病毒是否也會攻擊睾丸。

    研究人員以染疫症狀與人類相近的倉鼠作為實驗對象，發現在剛被感染的一週內，所有雄性倉鼠的睪丸中都能檢測到SARS-CoV-2，且病毒量會隨著時間慢慢減少。團隊認為，這個情狀或許會反映在輕度至中度染疫的男性病患身上。

    「這些發現是瞭解新冠肺炎如何影響男性生殖器與生殖健康的第一步，」病理學、微生物學暨免疫學系副教授羅西博士解釋，「我們會接著研究如何降低這類影響，像是透過抗病毒藥物、抗體療法和接種疫苗等方法。」

    研究人員建議，未來針對新冠肺炎與睾丸的研究，應將病史（肥胖、糖尿病）與病毒變異等因素納入考量。這項研究被發表在《微生物》期刊（Microorganisms）上。
