【每週一書｜掃帚與我們的日常生活記憶】掃～掃～掃～

「行人文化實驗室」寄來一本中日雙語的新書《小島製帚：台灣清掃的日常風景》還附上「掃你個痛快」槺榔小掃帚吊飾相當可愛。希望藉由分享這來自嘉義朴子社區發展協會製作的小掃帚，能快一點一掃疫情陰霾，大家也都能平安度過危機。

這本書的內容是介紹台灣日常裡的掃帚，用材料分為「木」、「禾」、「艸」、「竹」四部分，透過文字和工藝的紀錄影像，從植物取材、製作步驟到使用方式，呈現出12把掃帚與綁掃帚的職人們的生命故事。

我在翻閱時，回想到童年時候，住在關西老家的阿婆總會用芒草還是蘆葦（對應書中的「艸」）來製作掃帚，如果掃帚掃毛越掃越少時，就再綁一支新的就好，現在想起來真是環保又好用的掃帚類型。又想到了小學時，每天都有清潔時間，一下！課！大家就會衝到教室後面搶掃帚，倒不是狂愛掃地，而是要搶到好掃的Type（小學生有在意這個嗎？），或是先搶先掃先收拾書包準備等放學，當時還覺得芒草掃帚真是過時了，不該用塑膠掃把比較「現代」一點嗎？並不是的，塑膠掃把的掃毛縫隙遠不及芒草所製，不能掃得細緻乾淨，又會發出刮地板雜音，後來也都加入搶芒草掃把的行列了（是說這樣的小學生是不是想太多想太細了呢？）。

如果小學班級掃地被分到戶外組的話，還得清掃落葉，絕對不會有人拿塑膠掃把來掃落葉吧，這是不智的行為啊，一定得用竹掃把才可以把落葉聚集，不然掃起一堆土要做什麼呢？且掃完落葉後，或是邊掃邊玩和同學玩掃把大戰，若是用到不牢固的竹掃把，還會頭身分離（掃毛和竹柄分開），接回去後可採類似金剛飛拳彈出的模式攻擊對方，然後不能被老師發現。直到現在為止，好像還是沒有什麼掃帚是可以取代竹掃帚的。

還想起來一件事，讓我覺得自己算是很重視掃把的人，但在大都市的生活裡，掃帚的選擇有點令我失望，不是不好看就是不好用。大學時還曾經去中興百貨買了支義大利的MAGIS藍柄黃毛的掃把，荒謬的是，買完還去看電影（這合理嗎？），最後可以整場安全看完電影都得感謝後座朋友的寬容……。只不過這配色鮮明的塑膠掃把因為太沉了沒用幾次就關在倉庫裡了（淚）。

當翻閱本書內頁，看到書中的手製掃帚靜置在鄉下的紅磚房前，無論是材質和顏色都是絕妙和諧的搭配，這種回歸自然恬靜的生活美學，原來前人們早就為我們的做了最好的示範。而這些先人的智慧與職人的故事，在這本書裡都被一一記錄了下來，如果有興趣，那些職人工藝還可以在附註的相關資訊裡再找到、買到。

Understanding The Magis’ Three Gifts

“They, having heard the king, went their way; and behold, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, until it came and stood over where the young child was. The wise men brought three types of gifts to baby Jesus, and these gifts reveal things about Jesus to us.

Gold is a picture of Jesus’ divinity, telling us that He is God from Heaven.

Frankincense which is very aromatic is a picture of Jesus’ beauty in every way. Physically, morally, and character-wise, He exuded a perfect fragrance.

Myrrh was a spice used for preparing corpses for burial. It tells us Jesus’ mission which was to die for us as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

Put the three gifts together and the bright star pointing to where Jesus lay, and you will see a beautiful message: behold, here is the perfect and excellent God from Heaven who came as a baby to die for the sins of the world.

Praise Jesus! He was not just born, but He also died the way He intended. He loved us to the very end and fully purchased our redemption!

Saya mendengar versi rakaman awal Azzam untuk lagu istimewa ini. Justeru saya menggagahkan diri untuk hadir mendengar lontaran vokal Azzam.

Bukan mudah untuk menterjemah lirik lagu ini dalam bentuk persembahan suara namun ternyata Azzam membuktikan wibawanya. Lagu ini akhirnya menjadi ‘jiwa dan makanan’nya dengan penghayatan yang cukup baik selain kreativiti dalam mencorakkan warna lagu cukup terserlah...
