2019-04-11 13:57:16The gong looks so familiar, doesn't it? We've probably seen it in TVB dramas. Traditional costume dramas. When some Kung Fu guy performs a stunt, like lying on a bench with a flat rock atop his chest, getting hit by another guy with a sledgehammer, a promoter standing near them will hit his gong hard and loud, repeatedly, telling people to come and watch. Can we all recall that sound? Yes? Well, I'm not sure it can effectively calm the mind. If anything, it creates fright. Even if someone hits the gong gently, the sound is still jarring and unpleasant. I can imagine I'll get so tensed up 'sinking in' the gong bath, does anyone feel differently?

It remains ever challenging to me as when I first heard it nearly 30 years ago.
My voice teacher @nelsoncaruncho has been drilling me to smoothen out my vocal transitions. Hopefully this passes his test, as raw takes like this expose both the vocal brilliance and jarring flaws 😂
