Still feel quite unreal that my 3rd book #法式甜點裡的台灣（Liés par la douceur: les pâtissiers à Taïwan à la recherche de leur identité) is going to be published tomorrow. It’s been another tough year. As many of you have seen, I’ve spent much less time on Instagram and have published a lot less and it’s because I have spend almost all my time and energy in writing this book and in life itself. I actually started writing this book right after my 2nd book #法式甜點學 (L’Art de la pâtisserie française) was out. The pandemic has granted me a rare chance to go back to the island where I grew up, to visit the pastry shops and to talk to chefs and artisans alike that I have missed when I was away in Europe during the past 10 years. It is a journey of re-discovering the beauty of the country as well as re-discovering myself. I enjoyed this journey so much so that I feel the urge to write the discoveries and my thoughts down so that more people would get to know Taiwan better and that pastry chefs in Taiwan could also take the chance to rethink their positioning and unique identity represented by their work. In this book I interviewed 20 groups of chefs, artisans, brand owners as well as farmers. I try to show a clearer picture of the landscape of the industry and to find out through 5 different perspectives if there is (or could be) a certain “Taiwanese style” or spirit. From the history of development of French pastry in Taiwan to its current status and future prospect, I hope this book will become real food for thought for those who are interested in pastry and desserts in general, food culture, and especially who would like to reflect on who they are through what they eat. Self-introduction必備內容 💡💡[#InterviewReady🌋 ] 你嘅人生充滿意義，但當你將你嘅意義一五一十咁講曬俾interviewers聽嘅時候，講成四分幾五分鐘，而interviewers又要用5mins x n個嘅時間聽你哋講嘢，你講完五分鐘其實同你冇講一樣，佢哋都記唔到，點樣可以 兩分鐘 內present最好嘅一面就係要做嘅事。 1️⃣ 揀最反映到能力嘅experience嚟講 🏆 除非你可以將做班長嘅經歷吹到好似代表香港參加國際比賽咁，否則請你淨係講一啲服務範圍較大，或者更有代表性嘅活動/服務去講。而講嘅時候，最重要係將經歷最勁嘅位置講到俾人聽，例如大型比賽就可以講吓有幾多個人參與比賽，有冇贏得咩獎項，而得著嘅嘢就好簡單講幾句，等佢之後follow up問你，你先再講更多。如果有同in緊嘅科目相關嘅experience更加應該講吓。 2️⃣ 講你對學科嘅預備 📑 好多時學生都會講到呢科/呢行幾偉大，對自己有幾重要，我哋喺JUPAS圈子咁耐通常都會聽到以下幾個講法。第一: 自己/屋企人曾經大病一場要入院，得到護士/醫生照顧，所以想做護士或者醫生。第二: 自己曾經學業差而冇自信，好彩得到好老師幫助，而開始有進步，所以想做老師。第三：想研究幫到人嘅藥所以想讀藥劑，然後俾professor叫佢去in Chemistry, 因為藥劑師唔使製藥㗎。人哋faculty唔係開善堂，佢哋係想揾 有！能！力！ 嘅人加入佢哋，你用兩分鐘講personal story, 都講唔到你點解適合佢哋。最後幾感動流涕嘅故事都比唔上其他interviewees去醫院做一次義工接觸病人嘅經歷，義教接觸學生明白教學難點，更加唔好講藥劑嗰單，連人哋學科讀乜都未知，點揀你先？所以永遠都係實幹經驗大過動之以情，諗唔到嘅就問吓自己呢科想要一個咩性格/邊方面能力強嘅人，有冇啲睇落唔相關嘅經驗其實都可以反映到你有相應嘅能力。 3️⃣ 特別開頭 (optional)✨ 其實以上講嘅都夠大家做一個兩分鐘嘅self-intro, 已經好夠，不過開波都講，啲interviewers一日都聽好多self-intro, 想再印象深刻啲其實可以用一句quote/motto做個開頭，再引入去你以上嘅內容，等啲interviewers醒一醒，不過講到尾呢個都係額外嘢嚟，揾唔倒合適嘅其實寧願直接開始，唔好夾硬揾句連唔落去嘅嚟講。 今日就講到呢度，如果大家仲有啲面試題目唔識答，不妨喺comment或者dm問我哋，之後逐一解答。😙 #🌋👶🏻 ——— #Vocabno #DSEEnglish #hkdseenglish #dse英文 #DSE #dsefighter #2021DSE #2021dsefighter #22DSE #2022DSE #2022dsefighter #23DSE #2023DSE #2023dsefighter #24DSE #2024DSE #2024dsefighter #HKDSE #Dsetips #JUPAS #升學 #大學 #dsestudygram #studygram #DSE英文 #英語學習 #學英文 #大學面試
