In New Cold War, China is facing internal and external challenges and its “North Koreaization” is inevitable — internally stepping up stability preservation, while externally playing up nationalism and military brinkmanship against foreign forces. Hong Kong is the ground zero, with Taiwan, East China Sea, South China Sea and Sino-Indian borders being the powder keg. Hong Kong has been away from war for 75 years. The latest polls conducted by Pew Research Center clearly showed the anti-China sentiment in US; if we conduct the same poll in China, probably we will get the same result. In-between Cold War and Hot War, Hong Kong as an overlapping periphery of US and China will undergo tremendous political change. Hongkongers must pursue a new path.
