It is an excellent example of a Bauhaus building manifesting the dominant architectural tenet “Form Follows Function”. Simply put, the design of building and its components are guided by the function it performed. | The revitalised market houses dining and shopping venues, ranging from specialty restaurants to local boutiques. Although the revitalisation project creates controversies, to me the project is a pretty successful one especially under the stringent statutory approval process nowadays. The market retains the facade facing Jubilee Street and Queen Victoria Street, as well as the atrium and the main staircase. 6 types of stalls are also exhibited to show the public how the former wet market was like, including hanging bars of meat stalls and water tanks of fish stalls. @xxv.hr is currently having a cocktail tasting menu experience “A Journey to 25:00” curated by their Head Mixologist @kenzoleeee . The menu was re-imagined based on six of Hong Kong’s most beloved flavour with the incorporation of fine-dining concept. The thoughtful presentation and effort made behind was very much appreciated. | 8:00 𝒀𝒖𝒎 𝑪𝒉𝒂 Journey begins with Yum Cha where Scotch Whiskey with Jasmine Green Tea and Jelly were first served. The cocktail was crisp with a rich taste of tea. - 12:00 𝑵𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 The cocktail was prepared with Rum, coconut oil and roasted pineapple. It was presented in 2 ways - as cold “soup” with Parma Ham and by glass with rose water. - 19:00 𝑨𝒃𝒂𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒆 Homemade Plum Wine was served to pair with the abalone, which was prepared with Bourbon, making its flavour much more complex. - 20:00 𝑩𝒐 𝑱𝒂𝒊 𝑭𝒂𝒏 The taste of Bo Jai Fan was interestingly integrated with Chinese Preserved Sausage Fat Washed Amaro Montenegro. The Shitake Sous Vide Gin was quite strong with a floral and mushroom after taste. - 22:00 𝑰𝒄𝒆 𝑪𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒎 The ice cream was homemade and integrated with cocktail concept. It was inspired by Mango Pomelo Sago (楊枝甘露) and infused with Tequila, mango, pomelo and lime. - 25:00 𝑫𝒐𝒖𝒃𝒍𝒆-𝑩𝒐𝒊𝒍𝒆𝒅 𝑺𝒐𝒖𝒑 Double-Boiled soup was creatively paired with a shot. There’s just something really satisfying about having my cake out of a box😗 Tried these very pretty cakes from @bakebox.sg , in 4 flavours, 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐞, 𝐁𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐟𝐟 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞, 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐨 𝐒𝐚𝐠𝐨 and 𝐁𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐋𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧✨ Enjoyed the Black Sesame, Biscoff Latte and Mango Sago as the flavours were pretty on point. Blueberry Lemon not so, as the flavour combi was abit weird for me😅 👍🏻👍🏻𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐨 𝐒𝐚𝐠𝐨 Really loved this as the mangoes were really fresh, sweet and juicy🥰Every bite is filled with the fragrance of mangoes and i enjoyed the bite from the sago. Recommended !☺️ 👍🏻𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐞 Bssm lovers will definitely like this. From the cream to the sponge, the nutty fragrance was strong and roasty👌🏻 As a mochi lover, i enjoyed the incorporation of soft, chewy mochi - its not the very stretchy type, which i thought fits the cake overall as the layers come together quite well✨ I also liked how this came with bssm crumbles which was thoughtfully packed separate to retain their crunchy texture👍🏻 Definitely a great addition to the cake, though i thought the crumbles could be less sweet! 𝐁𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐟𝐟 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞 Pretty sweet but you definitely get a strong dose of biscoff, together with fragrant coffee notes. However, while i enjoyed the cream which was rich in cookie butter flavour, it had a rather oily mouthfeel reminding me of buttercream which i’m not a fan of😅 𝐁𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐋𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧 Tasted rather artificial and medicinal, especially the blueberry elements, hence i didn’t quite enjoy this😅 Felt that the pairing with lemon was pretty odd; perhaps if it was a pure lemon cake i would’ve liked this as i enjoyed the sourish and citrusy zing of the lemon🍋 Overall i enjoyed the cakes, but i did think that consistency is also a point to be improved on, as the cake layer differed quite a fair bit across the 4 boxes i got.
