先週日曜日の、野口美穂さん @mihonog とのインスタライブで、バイリンガル育児をしている方々のお悩みやご質問を伺いながら、私の中で、すごくリフレインしていたフレーズがありました。 それは、この春から学んでいるアドラー心理学の「全ての悩みは人間関係」です。 いやいや、別に人間関係に悩んでいるわけじゃなくて、子供の教育のことで‼️と思われたと思いますが、アドラー心理学的には、やっぱり「人間関係からくる悩み」に入るかな、と思ったんです。 「英語で子供に話しかけると、物珍しい目でみられるので、つい避けてしまう」 「外で子供に英語で話しかけると、自分の英語もネイティブ発音ではないし、間違えているかもしれないので、恥ずかしくなって、やめてしまう」→わかります。 私自身、元々英語ができなかったのでわかるのですが、英語ペラペラの人って「おおっ」と思ってしまいますよね。 また、自分が英語で話していても、明らからに自分は日本人に見えるので、「周りの人はどう思っているのかな」と思いますよね。 流暢な人は「教育ママと思われるのが嫌」、英語が苦手、とおっしゃる人は「下手な英語で話しかけている、と思われるのが嫌」と仰っていたのが印象的でした。 「周囲に英語育児に興味のある人がいない」→ バイリンガル育児が気になったら、そのことをすごく話したいですよね。 私も、なかなか話せる人がおらず、それでこの仕事を始めたのもあります。 私の「親子で英語力アップ！」英語コーチングでは、グループを作って、みんなで交流できるようにしており、確かに、仲間の存在は支えになりますよね。 でも全体的に、伺っていて、「みなさんもっと自由に、周囲を気にせず、ご自分が思うように（バイリンガル育児も）楽しんだらいいんじゃないかな？」と、思いました。 というのも、日本にいながら、日本人の両親のもと、日本の普通に学校に通いつつ（そうではない方々もたくさんいらっしゃると思いますが）子供をバイリンガルにするって、可能だと思いますが、簡単なことでもないので、 みなさんそれぞれのビジョンが実現するため、目標を叶えるためには、（山登りみたいなものだ、とお話ししましたが）もっと自分が歩いている道の花とか景色を楽しんで、自分のペースで歩いて、他のお子様がどれだけ進んでいるとか、他の人にどう思われるか、とか気にせず、我が子と自分が、昨日より半歩でも成長できたら、思いっきり自分たちを褒めてあげたらいいのでは、と。 そうではないと、ながーーーい道のりなので（私は息子が２０代半ばになった時「子供の頃から英語をやっていてよかったなー、今、自然に自由に使えているな」と思ってくれることを１番の目標にしています） せっかくなら楽しんでやった方がいいかな、と。 昔、こんな話を聞いたことがあります。 国民性のイメージを現した、笑い話なんですが。（思い出しながら書いているので、オリジナルと違うところがあったらすみません🙇‍♀️） ✨✨✨ There was a cruise ship. On the ship, people from different countries were travelling. とあるクルーズ船があって、その船には、さまざまな国の人たちが旅をしていました。 Then, unfortunately, a big storm came and the ship hit the big rock. THE VULVA FLOWER 🌸 The censorship of our bodies, the ‘offensiveness’ of the female anatomy hurt us all. I’m not talking about our identities, and feminism, or even politics. I’m talking about women who fear going for Pap smears and check ups, who’re scared to tell their parents they have infections and don’t know what to do, who don’t know about HPV vaccines, and birth control, and put themselves in danger, because society shames our bodies, shames what makes us women, shame what makes us sacred and amazing, and different from men. I hesitated a little speaking up about this because I had been closely working with @kotexmy on some campaigns, and understood the terms we’re bound by when we work, but when I talked to the representatives down at Kotex, they reassured me that this fight, our fight, is so much bigger than just brands and work. 😭💖 I’m so so happy to be in a place where I can collaborate with people who give me the freedom to stand up for what I believe in, and lend power and voice through me, and recognise in the big picture, we’re all fighting for the same thing. ✨ Our bodies are not shameful, neither are they offensive, nor purely sexual. Our bodies are strong, wondrous, incredible things that possess the gift of giving life, and it should be celebrated by all, especially other women ✨ I am truly comforted by the idea that in their act to censor our bodies, the amount of love and open conversations around our bodies have exploded online!😉 When you come for us, you come for us all, so don’t be surprised when we bite back!!! 𝑯𝑼𝑴𝑨𝑹𝑨𝑷 = HOPE in Kadazandusun. I will take the sales commission proceeds from the selected brands I work with, to help fund my Humarap NGI. Sometimes I get RM10. Sometimes I get more. No matter the amount, it all goes to Humarap to help buy food provisions like rice, milk and canned food as well as diapers for the little ones. My outfit is small but I do it with a bunch of volunteers on ground who helps me identify those in dire need. So when requests come in and I collect the funds and transfer it to someone who will then update me with the necessary info. I don’t normally ask for videos or photos unless a personal donor comes in and just to be transparent (as some do ask for updates), I provide it for them. Last month, a private donor sent in funds. Quite timely as there was rice request for the folks at Kg Labau Tobobon, Kg Likas Square and Kg Tanjung Lipat (seberang Sungai) Thank you Wong, James and Sitti who are usually my volunteers on ground. I am sorry when I’m unable to fulfil all requests, but I try. I usually don’t do personal donations as I need to verify it personally. Unless it’s for special cases like the need of a wheelchair etc. I am more comfortable knowing the provisions/ equipment allocated truly does go to the recipients.
