< L'EGLISE SAINT-JULIEN LE PAUVRE 窮人聖朱利安教堂 >

這教堂屬巴黎最古老的教堂之一, 位於拉丁區, 莎士比亞書店跟巴黎最老的樹就在咫尺. 由此眺望聖母院的角度也相當美麗.

Saint-Julien-le-Pauvre 窮人聖朱利安又稱 Saint-Julien-l’Hospitalier 好客聖朱利安, 根據傳說, 他在某次打獵時遇到一頭雄鹿告訴他說, 他將會殺死自己的雙親.
Saint-Julien-le-Pauvre 為了避免悲劇應驗, 決定遠走高飛. 但雙親不知情, 努力打探愛兒的下落, 找阿找的, 找到Saint-Julien-le-Pauvre 的妻子, 也就是媳婦家中. 媳婦說, 不如就住下來等他吧!

教堂原址原本是個小禮拜堂, 於886年被諾曼第入侵摧毀, 1165左右(跟聖母院同期) 在原址蓋了修院. 13世紀 巴黎大學成立之後, 這兒成為學生聚集討論之地. Dante 但丁跟Thomas d'Aquin 阿奎納就常是座上客.
法國大革命期間多處教堂被充公, 窮人聖朱利安教堂也難逃一劫, 被當作鹽倉, 直到1826年才恢復神職.

教堂內部是希臘拜占庭風格. 沒有一般教堂常見的管風琴. 教堂窗戶也不是常見的玻璃花窗, 僅僅只是白色.
nef 中殿與choeur祭壇之間隔著雕工精細美麗無比的木製聖像屏 iconostase. 由大馬士革的巧匠Georges Bitat 於1890年完成.

教堂內大部分的柱頭chapiteaux雕刻都是水紋水花圖案, 只有一個雕刻著希臘神話中的怪物harpies (有著女人的頭, 禿鷲的身體,翅膀和利爪, 而且性格殘忍兇惡)
